Hello

Digital body language. What does it mean, and how do we use it?

In a new book by Erica Dhawan
Digital Body Language: How to Build Trust and Connection, No Matter the Distance
She raises the following points.
  • 70% of team communication is virtual (and this stat is presumably from before lockdown given the publication date)

  • We receive on average 93 emails per day

  • 50% of emails are misinterpreted
Traditionally one of the easiest ways to show someone you like them is to smile or laugh when they are talking, when appropriate.

Many of us distrust people who don't return a smile.

So how do we translate this hard wired human behaviour into the digital era?

Dhawan brings up speed of response, using emojis, being cheerful in tone & language, and actually just replying to people (lack of response is the top online complaint apparently)

Over To You

Have you ever taken the time to consider how you come across online?

Most of us use social media for lead generation, whether that's Linkedin, Instagram or Twitter.  It really is worth taking the time to think about what sort of online persona you want to construct, and keep to.

None of us wants to be LOL'ing all over the place one day, and deadly serious the next!

I hope this has given you something to think about.

Have a lovely weekend

100 Marketing Tips for Small Business Owners

You can buy a copy of my book from either my website or Amazon

A recent review

"I bought this book in the very early days of my business when I was feeling overwhelmed with marketing. I loved how the book is broken into manageable sections so that I could put each individual tip into practice. It’s a book that I regularly dip into for inspiration and it has joined the shelves of my essential business books.

This book is crucial reading for any business owner, especially if you keep trying the same marketing ideas and need some great new tips."
