DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR IARF LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
On September 16th & 17th, 2021, IARF will host an in-person Leadership Conference in Bloomington and there is still time to submit a presentation proposal! The deadline has been extended and proposals will now be accepted through June 30th. The Education Committee is seeking presentation proposals for the event that include but are not limited to the following: Organizational Recovery; Change/Transformation; Teambuilding; Recruitment & Retention; Best Practices C-Suite Level; Strategic Planning; Succession Planning; Fundraising; Community Employment.

Our goal with the leadership conference format is to provide an opportunity for agency leadership teams to reconnect with each other and colleagues from around the state to learn from one another and share best practices together, in-person. REMOTE SUPPORTS WAIVER AMENDMENT APPROVED
The most recent waiver amendment that was submitted to CMS in January of 2021 was approved on June 24th.  The effective date of the changes in this amendment will be July 1, 2021.  The waiver now allows for Remote Supports in CILA and ICILA settings and also modifies the definition of Personal Support to include support services provided in a hospital setting and add Remote Support as a new waiver service.  The newly approved waiver can be viewed HERE.  An Information Bulletin from the Division outlining Remote Supports policy and billing procedures will be forthcoming.  (Contact: Beth Owens)
 

FUNCTIONAL LITERACY TESTING AND TABE SCORING UPDATE
The Division has not released a final version of the Functional Literacy Information Bulletin but they confirmed with Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) that the minimum score required to achieve an 8th grade reading equivalency on the TABE 11M & 12M.  This score is significantly lower than DRS previously reported. DRC has now removed the grade equivalency sheet from their website since they have determined it was not accurate.
 
For the TABE 11 M - Minimum Raw Score of 26, a Scale Score of 501 and a NRS Level 3
For the TABE 12 M – Minimum Raw Score of 26, a Scale Score of 501 and a NRS Level 3
 
DRC is planning to offer a statewide training webinar to assist providers with information on ordering supplies, testing procedure, scoring and available resources. (Contact: Beth Owens)
 

WEBINAR: UPDATED CDS GUIDANCE – AN OVERVIEW AND Q&A WITH DDD & IDPH
The Division continues to receive feedback on the Updated CDS Guidance that has been released.  They will be hosting a joint webinar with the Illinois Department of Public Health on June 29 at 2pm titled Updated CDS Guidance – An Overview and Q & A with DDD & IDPH.   All community providers are encouraged to attend.  Please register here. NADSP SURVEY: DSP’s & COVID-19
The University of Minnesota’s Institute on Community Integration, in partnership with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals, developed this survey to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on direct support professionals and identify the most effective ways to protect DSPs and the people they support. DMH MONTHLY TRADE ASSOCIATION MEETING UPDATE
IARF participated in the monthly DHS DMH meeting with several BH trade associations. Highlights of the meeting are as follows:
  • 590 Crisis Grant Update;
  • FY22 DHS-DMH Budget and Rate Increases;
  •  Block Grant Increases;
  • LOCUS: There are currently no DMH requirements to use LOCUS; and,
  • BALC.

HFS RELEASES PUBLIC NOTICE ON ICFDD WAGE RATE INCREASES. COMMENT PERIOD OPEN NOW
IARF wanted to provide the following information to the ICFDD Committee regarding a NEW HFS Public Notice on ICFDD Wage Rate Increases. The 30-day comment period for the ICFDD wage rate adjustments is now started with this announcement, as of yesterday 6/24/2021. U.S. DOL ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF MORE THAN $21M IN GRANTS FOR TRAINING ON WORKPLACE HAZARDS, INFECTIOUS DISEASES
The U.S. Department of Labor today announced funding opportunities for more than $21 million in Occupational Safety and Health Administration training grants for non-profit organizations.
 
The first availability will provide $10 million under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 for Workplace Safety and Health Training on Infectious Diseases, including the Coronavirus grants. 
 
Applications must be submitted at www.grants.gov no later than 11:59 p.m. EDT on July 26, 2021. Applicants must possess a D-U-N-S number and have an active System of Award Management registration. (Contact: Luis Andrade)
 

GOV. PRITZKER ADMINISTRATION: ILLINOIS OFFERING $10M IN COVID-19 VACCINE LOTTERY
Last week, Governor Pritzker announced a new vaccine lottery in Illinois that will offer a total of $10 million in total prize money to residents who get vaccinated against COVID-19.
 
The cash prizes will range from $100,000 to $1 million, while children can win a Bright Start college savings plan worth $150,000 apiece. Drawings begin July 8th. To learn more about All In for The Win, please visit https://allin.illinois.gov/. (Contact: Luis Andrade)
