Dear Families,

When I interviewed at LMC eight years ago, I had a difficult decision to make - do I stay at the great school I’d been teaching at for seven years or move to a new school, in a new borough, with a new position? Kelly McGuire needed me to make a decision quickly; I had one night to decide my future.

Thankfully, I chose LMC.  It is a place unlike any other. I have been privileged to be a part of this community that has facilitated my growth professionally and personally. As I moved from being a literacy coach and teacher into the role of Assistant Principal, we fell into a pandemic. Each day I was grateful to be working with Shanna and the LMC staff as we attempted to find our way through the unknown. This is a truly incredible group of people who care deeply about each other and our students.

I am leaving LMC to take on the role of principal at 75 Morton in District 2. While I am very excited to join this community and take with me all I have learned at LMC, that excitement sits side-by-side with the sadness of leaving my LMC family.  Thank you for all of your support over the years.

Shanna has chosen an amazing new Assistant Principal who she will introduce to the community soon.

Much love,

Valerie Lake
