1. Gallup Poll: 52% of Americans Want All or Most Abortions Made Illegal

(LifeNews) - Gallup has released new National polling data on the issue of abortion and the results show continued pro-life sentiment across the United States as a majority of people say they oppose all or most abortions as Americans have said for years. Typically the Gallup poll has found in the majority of Americans oppose all or most abortions even though some Americans who technically take a pro-life position opposing abortion wrongly think they are supposedly pro-choice.

In the past, the Gallup survey has found for many years that roughly half or just over half of Americans oppose all or almost all abortions. The newest polling data is no different. Gallup found 52% of Americans take a pro-life position on abortion wanting all (19%) or almost all 33% abortions made illegal. That’s a decline of 3% from its 2020 poll. The poll found just 45% of Americans take a pro-abortion position wanting all (32%) or almost all (13%) abortions legal. MORE

2. Breaking: European Parliament Backs ‘Extreme’ Abortion Report Despite Protests

(NCRegister) - BRUSSELS, Belgium — The European Parliament voted Thursday in favor of a report describing abortion as “essential healthcare” and seeking to redefine conscientious objection as a “denial of medical care.” Members of the European Parliament, the EU’s law-making body, voted on June 24 by 378 votes in favor, 255 against and 42 abstentions, to adopt the text, known as the Matić Report, at a plenary session in Brussels, Belgium. The report also declares that violations of “sexual and reproductive health and rights” are “a form of violence against women and girls.” Parliamentarians had earlier rejected two attempts to block the controversial report. An alternative motion for a resolution by the EPP Group in the European Parliament failed, with 288 votes in favor and 373 against, reported the German weekly Die Tagespost. MORE

3. Toledo pro-life group purchases parking lot across from abortion clinic

(CAN) - A pro life organization in Toledo, Ohio, purchased a parking lot across the street from a local abortion clinic in February, in anticipation of a local prohibition on sidewalk counseling. The Northwest Ohio-based Foundation for Life recently bought the parking lot across from the abortion clinic Capital Care of Toledo, for $35,000. The clinic told 13ABC that many women seeking an abortion end up parking in the lot that is now owned by the Foundation for Life. “We were thrilled to have the opportunity and grateful for the three generous donors who stepped up and enabled us to purchase the property,” Ed Sitter, the executive director of Foundation for Life, told CNA. Sitter told CNA he was grateful to the lot’s owner for selling it to his organization for half of the asking price. Sitter said the owner was pro-life and wanted to give back to the pro life cause in the community. Escorts from Capital Care would typically meet women seeking an abortion and walk with them past the pro-life sidewalk advocates. The parking lot had been on sale for 20 years, but after buying the lot, Foundation for Life no longer allows abortion clinic staff or volunteers to meet the women in that parking lot. MORE

4. Congress introduces bill to allow abortion up to birth, eliminating all pro-life laws

(LiveAction) - The Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) of 2021, hailed by abortion supporters as the bill that will ensure equal access to abortion for all, is being re-introduced in Congress today. Currently, “health of the mother” loopholes including financial health and familial health allow abortion up to birth in the United States, but the WHPA will ensure a woman can have an abortion for any reason at all through all nine months of pregnancy. The bill could also wipe out conscience protections, parental notification laws, and informed consent laws. “This week’s news out of the Supreme Court was an urgent call to action: reproductive rights are under direct, imminent attack,” said the bill’s sponsors two days after SCOTUS announced it would take up the case involving Mississippi’s ban on abortion at four months (15 weeks) — a case that has the potential to challenge Roe v. Wade. “Our bill, the Women’s Health Protection Act, would protect against unconstitutional laws like Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban — laws that attack people’s freedom to make decisions about their own bodies and which directly contradict decades of Supreme Court precedent. […] We look forward to formally reintroducing our legislation with the support of our colleagues…” MORE

5. Supreme Court rules in favor of Catholic agency in foster case

(Crux) - In a unanimous decision June 17, the Supreme Court said that a Catholic social service agency should not have been excluded from Philadelphia’s foster care program because it did not accept same-sex couples as foster parents. Although the court said Philadelphia’s anti-discrimination laws put an unfair burden on Philadelphia’s Catholic Social Services, the justices did not issue a sweeping ruling on religious rights or overturn its previous decision involving religious liberty in Employment Division v. Smith. Chief Justice John Roberts, who wrote the opinion in Fulton v. Philadelphia, said the service agency “seeks only an accommodation that will allow it to continue serving the children of Philadelphia in a manner consistent with its religious beliefs; it does not seek to impose those beliefs on anyone else.” MORE

5 Practical Ways To Step Up and Grieve With One Who is Grieving

(MeekerParenting) - Grief is the emotional experience resulting from loss. When you first experience a loss, you may feel an initial state of shock, where you struggle with processing the emotions you are feeling and with integrating those emotions and thoughts into your here-and-now experience.

Because each relationship is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation, made by two unique, one-of-a-kind individuals, the loss of that relationship produces a unique response in each individual. So, no one can tell you what you "should" be feeling or how you "should" cope with your grief. Your experience is your experience. MORE

The Lazy Slander of the Pro-Life Cause
(PD) - One of the most frequently repeated canards of the abortion debate is that pro-lifers really don’t care about life...This lazy slander is as common as it is untrue. Of course, there is much more that needs to be done, but in the decades since Roe v. Wade, pro-lifers have taken the lead in offering vital services to mothers and infants in need. Operating with little support—and often actual opposition—from agencies, foundations, and local governments, pro-lifers have relied upon a network of committed donors and volunteers to make great strides in supporting mothers and their infants. It’s time the media takes notice. MORE

Stem cell experts relax call for abolition of 14-day rule
(BioEdge) - As expected, the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) has updated its guidelines for stem cell research. The marquee guideline is the relaxation of the limit of 14 days on how long a human embryo may be kept alive in a lab. MORE

AMA Helps Normalize Organ Harvesting after Euthanasia
(NR) - In 1993, my first ever anti-euthanasia column warned in Newsweek that once euthanasia became accepted widely, it would be followed by organ harvesting “as a plum to society.” By now, you know how that story goes. I was accused of alarmism, slippery-slope advocacy, conspiracy theories, etc., etc. And, as these kind of stories nearly always end, it came to be — in Canada, Netherlands, and Belgium, with more likely to follow over time. Powerful pro-life video encourages women to choose life
(NRLC) - Choice42, a Canadian pro-life group led by Laura Klassen, has produced a heartfelt animated video, encouraging women to choose life over abortion. A short video has been posted on social media promoting life over death, hope over despair, empowering women who might be considering an abortion. MORE

More TV, movie dads today are strong figures and no longer the hapless foil
(Crux) - We’ll always have Homer Simpson with us. The animated bumbler was designed to be the antithesis to the got-it-all-under-control father types like Cliff Huxtable of “The Cosby Show.”
And with “The Simpsons” having been renewed for a 33rd and a 34th season, there will be enough episodes that someone could watch them for two weeks around the clock and not have seen them all. MORE

VIDEO: Life is Winning in America
(FRC) - After nearly 50 long years of bloodshed in our nation, pro-lifers are seeing the fruit of their passion and perseverance. Even now, we stand on the cusp of an opportunity that most of us didn't know if we'd see in our lifetimes: a challenge to Roe v. Wade at the foot of the Supreme Court that could essentially send this atrocity to the dustbin of history. Watch this week's Pray Vote Stand to hear Phil Bryant, former Governor of Mississippi; Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.); and Gary Bauer, President of American Values, discuss recent pro-life victories and what the Mississippi case coming before the Supreme Court could mean for the future of life in America. Sorry, Harvard, Fathers Still Matter—Including Black Fathers
(IFStudies) - The culture wars over family structure that raged in the 20th century — wars over single parenthood, marriage, and the importance of fathers — seemed to have ended in the early 21st century. From academia to the policy world, most sensible people acknowledged the importance of strong and stable families for kids. MORE
