Monthly Newsletter
This past month has been an exciting one for Blue Cactus Press! Between releasing our newest poetry collection and acquiring a new novel, we've been hosting workshops and working on our upcoming releases. Take a look below to see what we've been up to and what you can expect from us in the coming months! In case you missed any of our recent events, you can find them recorded and uploaded at bluecactuspress.com.
As some of you already know, we acquired Lori Bundrock's debut novel, Where Rivers Change Directions, this week! Christina and Lori celebrated with fizzy drinks and cupcakes as they signed the contract for Where Rivers Change Directions, which is slated for publication in Summer/Fall 2022. The novel is partly a Queer coming-of-age story, partly a love letter to Montana and Seattle, and definitely a respectful nod to the power of family and community. Stay tuned for more details about the book, and Lori, in the coming months!
Green River Valley Book Launch Was a Hit!
Robert Lashley's book launch for Green River Valley was powerful and surprisingly emotional (in positive ways), thanks to Robert Lashley, who shared his poems and experience in the editorial process, and guests Jodi Poorwill, Graham Isaac, and Kellie Richardson!
We also wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU, dear readers, for helping us reach our pre-order goal for the book! We set out to sell 100 pre-orders of this fabulous poetry collection before it launched. With your support, we hit our mark a day or two before the launch! You all continue to astound us with your generosity and support of local, indie publishing! If you missed the launch, you can watch it on the BCP website. Here's a link.
We're Wrapping-Up Cover Design & Layout of Red Earth
Our editorial team has been hard at work on Red Earth, the debut poetry collection from Singapore author Esther Vincent Xueming! Over the next two weeks, we're finalizing the interior layout and cover design, all in preparation of sending this beauty off to the printers for proofing and printing! Be on the lookout for a cover reveal this July! In the meantime, here's a little snippet of the cover art - by the ever-talented artist, Shucolat - to assuage your curiosity!
Watch the Entangled Empathy Poetry Workshop
This month, Red Earth author Esther Vincent facilitated the Entangled Empathy poetry Workshop! And let me tell you, it was an insightful and thought-provoking workshop on ecofeminism and the intersections of "self" in poetry. If you missed the workshop, you can watch it on the BCP website, here.
