Just what IS 7 Rooms:
The Masque of the Red Death
?!

Flat Earth Theatre is reimagining the way we create theatre. This project began with an idea and an Edgar Allan Poe story, which formed a framework on which we built a community we like to describe as “radically collaborative.” Playwrights and directors joined in building a shared world of stories that speak to each other across varied moods, genres, and themes, but harmonize into a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

  • 7 Rooms is an immersive virtual theatre experience where audience members may “choose their own adventure” as they navigate Prospero’s decadent end-of-the-world party while the Red Death devastates the world outside. Within Prospero’s manor, where costumed revellers escape the plague, discover an evening of theatre exploring isolation, connection, moral dilemmas, humor, humanity, and hope.
  • THIS IS NOT ZOOM THEATRE. 7 Rooms offers seven glimpses through seven windows into seven fully staged short plays with fully realized designs and actors present in the physical space together. Just think of Zoom as the tool audiences use to watch the plays.
  • The plays are united by a live solo performance written by Amy Lehrmitt (who recently released the original radio play Fine-Tuned Universe), directed by Lindsay Eagle (lauded for her electrifying production of X by Alistair McDowall), and featuring powerhouse actor Juliet Bowler (nominated for an Elliot Norton award for her magnetic performance in Not Medea) as the gregarious host of the party, Prospero.

(and then come join the party at the end of the world)

With your support, we've reached more than half our fundraising goal – and there's still time to help. Your donations help cover the costs of props and costumes, and most importantly, stipends for the amazing team of collaborators who have come together to build this house.
