Did you know? July 10th is National Kitten Day!
What a fantastic holiday to celebrate. We here at OCSP Cat Rescue celebrate kitten day pretty much every day, but some great ways for you to celebrate at home are to support kittens and mama cats.

5 Ways to Celebrate National Kitten Day

  1. Donate money to our organization. Your monetary donations keep OCSP going by filling up kitten bellies, getting kittens to the vet for health and wellness checkups, and ensuring that everyone is spayed/neutered.

  2. Donate items to our organization. Items we need for our cats are on our Chewy Wish List! These items ship right to us when you order from Chewy! You don’t need to do any of the heavy lifting, and it’s easy for you to donate even if you aren’t nearby.

  3. Volunteer with us. We have multiple locations in Orange County, and they are all filled with cats that could use your help. Fill out a volunteer application and email it to us at ocsp.volunteers@gmail.com with “Volunteer” in the subject line. You’ll clean litter boxes and kennels, make sure everyone is fed, and give them lots of play time and cuddles. You might even fall in love and end up getting a new pet. 😉

  4. Adopt a kitten, or a bonded pair. I’m a firm believer that two cats are better than one! Check out our cuties on Pet Finder. See someone you like? Fill out our adoption application and email it to OCSP Cat Rescue at ocsp.adoptions@gmail.com, putting the cat’s name in the subject line.

  5. Foster for us. We rely heavily on foster homes to save cats. Please complete the fostering application and email it to us at ocsp.adoptions@gmail.com with “Fostering” in the subject line. Be sure to tell us a little about yourself so that we can talk to you about the details personally.

What is it like to foster cats & kittens?
As a foster, your primary job is to watch over the cats, feed them and socialize them with play time. This may also include transporting them to the vet for checkups, teaching them good litterbox behavior, providing a space for recouperation after surgery/injury, or administering medicine. You would be their primary human contact before they are adopted, so your role is imperative.

We have cats of all ages that are looking for foster care. You can specify particular preferences (kittens, special needs, willing to medicate, willing to isolate, etc.) on your foster application. Our organization gets tons of calls requesting us to take in strays or owner surrendered pets, but without more fosters there is only so much we can do. Your decision to foster is lifesaving! If you’ve never fostered, our team members are available to get into specifics and answer any questions you may have along the way.
*Bonus* Set our organization as your charity on smile.amazon.com. There are two ways to do this. At no additional cost to you, your purchases will generate some revenue for our charity.
  • On the website: Log in to smile.amazon.com just as you would from amazon.com. The lists are usually on the left of the bar.
    • Search “OCSP” from the list.
    • Select.
    • You’re done! AmazonSmile will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchases to us.
    • Tip: Bookmark smile.amazon.com so all of your future purchase count toward our charity.

  • On the Amazon app: How to use AmazonSmile using the Amazon app on your mobile phone:
    • Open the Amazon Shopping app.
    • Navigate to the main menu (=).
    • Tap on Settings and then select “AmazonSmile”.
    • Select your charity and then follow the on-screen instructions to turn ON AmazonSmile in the mobile app
    • Once AmazonSmile has been activated in your app, future eligible app purchases will generate a donation for the charity you have selected.
    • You will have to renew your choice twice a year. AmazonSmile will notify you of these renewals via push notifications and through in-app notifications.

I mentioned our Chewy list above. Please consider donating some items to help us care for as many kittens and mamas as possible. Some items we always need are highlighted below.

  • Royal Canin Mother & Babycat Dry Cat Food for Newborn Kittens, Pregnant & Nursing Cats, 7-lb bag $30.68

  • Royal Canin Mother & Babycat Ultra-Soft Mousse in Sauce Wet Cat Food for New Kittens and Nursing or Pregnant Mother Cats, 5.8-oz, case of 24 $48.96

  • Arm & Hammer Litter Super Scoop Unscented Clumping Clay Cat Litter, 40-lb box $14.99

That’s all for this month. Don’t forget to tell others they can subscribe to our monthly newsletter. Our organization wishes all of you a happy summer season! Stay cool out there.

Best furry wishes, and I’ll chat with you all next month.

Meet Stella Marie

Her coat may be dilute but her personality is not! This spunky little kitty enjoys dangly toys, scratching posts and furry mice. She will get vocal if you are not petting her enough however so be sure to give her your gentle hands as often as you can. She has a dominant demeanor so it's best if you follow directions on how to get her to meet your cat if you have one already.

Wouldn't you like to meet me and see if I am the perfect addition to YOUR family? For more information on how to adopt any of our adoptable cats, please contact OCSP Cat Rescue at ocsp.adoptions@gmail.com, putting the cat's name in the subject line. EMAIL is always the fastest way to bring your new family member home!

During the COVID Stay at Home order we are doing adoptions and meets by appointment only with an approved application. You can access our application on our website, ocspcatrescue.org

Once the order has been lifted we'll be back for meets & greets on Saturdays from
11:30 am - 2:30 pm at Petco Tustin;
12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Petco Huntington Beach (on Adams);

Check our website for the most up-to-date information on current adoption events at www.ocspcatrescue.org or email us at ocsp.adoptions@gmail.com to ask us where we'll be that weekend.

Adoption fees are $170.00 per adult cat and $195 per kitten up to one year old. We offer reduced fees for adopting two cats together ($315 for two adults, $375 for two kittens). Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, UTD on vaccines, FELV/FIV testing, and any other vet care that has been administered. There is an additional fee to pay with a credit card.
Other Ways to Help OCSP Cat Rescue

Your monetary donations keep our organization going, and for that, the cats and all the volunteers at OCSP are eternally grateful. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization and couldn’t do this without your support.

Volunteer with us; we need you! Fill out a volunteer application and email it to us at ocsp.volunteers@gmail.com with “Volunteer” in the subject line. We have multiple locations in Orange County that need all paws on deck, so your help is highly appreciated. Yes, you clean litter boxes, but you also get to play with cats. Tag us with your Insta worthy photos @OCSP_catrescue while volunteering. As always, consider giving us a donation to help us care for the cats.

Can you foster? Please email us at ocsp.adoptions@gmail.com with “Fostering” in the subject line. Complete the fostering application, and be sure to tell us a little about yourself so that we can talk to you about the details personally. We rely heavily on foster homes to save cats.

Find your next best purr-fect roommate or new best fur-iend through OCSP! Check out our cuties on Pet Finder. See someone you like? Fill out our adoption application and email it to OCSP Cat Rescue at ocsp.adoptions@gmail.com, putting the cat’s name in the subject line.

Do you order pet supplies from Chewy? OCSP Cat Rescue has a Wish List with Chewy. You can purchase gift cards, food, toys, cat litter, and other things on our list for our cats. Chewy takes care of the rest for you by shipping it directly to us. It’s so easy, and our fur babies appreciate it.

Donate year-round without thinking about it! Amazon allows you to set a charity for your account. When you order from smile.amazon.com with our charity selected, we automatically get a portion donated to us. Please find us on AmazonSmile: OCSP Cat Rescue, Inc.
