ONE-TIME EVENTS

Drive Clean with the League

League of Women Voters of California, together with Drive Clean California, is co-hosting a tell-a-friend campaign designed to greatly increase awareness of the importance and benefits of EV driving.

The LWV of California and the LWVUS have declared a climate emergency, urging all local Leagues to include Climate Action as a high priority in 2021. The most important step a typical California resident can take to reduce carbon emissions is to switch to an electric vehicle.

During the one-hour ZOOM event, experts from Drive Clean California, EV drivers and climate and clean air enthusiasts will share their interest in clean air and a cool planet. The event will feature:

  • EV and e-bike experts and owners will share their experiences, the latest trends, vehicles, costs, and considerations when moving to electric.
  • Experts will discuss government incentives, solutions for residents who live in apartments and additional financial incentives for disadvantaged communities.
  • We will debunk common EV myths and answer your questions.

The Promise of Carbon Neutrality by 2050

A Community Discussion of a National Carbon Pricing Climate Solution

Putting a price on carbon may be the single most powerful tool we have to reduce America’s carbon pollution to net zero by 2050.
  • Wednesday July 21st, 12:00 – 1:00pm
  • Presented by LWV Palo Alto
  • For information: Hilary Glann (hglann@gmail.com)
  • Register here.
Which carbon pricing and policy options will best serve the American people in an equitable manner? Team members from Citizens’ Climate Education (CCE) will lead a short presentation on carbon pricing and policies. Then, join a facilitated breakout group to discuss carbon pricing, including equity implications, and how carbon pricing policies fit with other carbon reduction initiatives.

LWVUS supports pricing carbon emissions but does not advocate for one method or legislation over another. For more information, please refer to the League’s officially endorsed website regarding carbon pricing.
