COVID-19 Update

Message from Visit Sunshine Coast

The latest COVID-19 developments were certainly not the news anyone wanted to hear. At a time when we are supposed to be focused on welcoming visitors to the Sunshine Coast for the winter holiday period we are instead faced with another uncertain situation.

An update on the latest COVID-19 developments is included below, and we encourage you to stay up-to-date with the latest information via the
Queensland Health website.

We know how devastated everyone is to face these restrictions during our school holidays and appreciate how this will impact your businesses.

If you require support or have any questions on the new restrictions please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Industry and Membership Development Manager Andrew Fairbairn, at
andrew.fairbairn@visitsunshinecoast.com or 0427 562 100.

Contact tracing alert for the Sunshine Coast

Queensland Health has issued COVID-19 contact tracing alerts for parts of the Sunshine Coast, including the Glass House Mountains.

Stay-to-date with the
current list of exposure venues in Queensland and related health advice for anyone who has been to any of those locations at the relevant date and time.

The State Government advice is that anyone with
COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, should get tested as soon as possible.

Latest COVID-19 update

The COVID-19 situation is rapidly changing and this morning new restrictions have been announced for the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Local Government Areas (LGAs). New restrictions will apply from 1:00am AEST tomorrow, 29 June 2021 including:

  • Carry a mask and wear it whenever you are outside the house (excluding vigorous exercise or when seated)
  • Seated dining at cafes and restaurants
  • All indoor settings: 1 person per 4 square metres or 100% capacity with ticketed and allocated seating
  • Weddings: up to 100 people with 1 person per 4 square metres, limited to 20 people dancing at any one time

Read the full list on Queensland Health’s website here.

Visitors already in Queensland

  • Guests will need to follow the mask requirements. Information here.
  • Anyone who has been in any of the 35 LGAs of Greater Sydney must follow the stay-at-home requirements. Information here.
As the situation evolves in multiple states and territories, border restrictions are also changing. If you have interstate guests currently staying in your accommodation or travelling with you, they should keep a close eye on Queensland requirements as well as their home state requirements.

All travellers should also regularly check the contact tracing alerts for Queensland and other states where they may have recently travelled. In Queensland, if you have been in a venue that has a contact tracing alert, health advice ranging from getting a COVID-19 test to entering isolation or hotel quarantine may apply.
Monitor this page for alerts and relevant public health advice.

Visitors arriving to Queensland

Visitors arriving to Queensland must complete a travel declaration - information here. COVID-19 hotspot declarations remain in place for the Greater Sydney area.

Visitors should also keep up to date with any requirements in place in their home state for returning from Queensland, as the situation continues to change.
