Aussie & Kiwi Film Summer 21

Summer is here and culture is coming back to life after a long break.  So it is high time to head out for new discoveries!

Film evenings in Prague summer cinemas, meetings with fans of Australia and New Zealand in public spaces, a pop-up cinema in Riegrovy sady and the launch of the book by David Vávra and Radovan Lipus will be offered by Aussie & Kiwi Film SUMMER 21. The film part of the program of the festival of Australian and New Zealand culture will begin with the premiere of the romantic comedy Long Story Short (2021) on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 9 pm in the Kasárna Karlín cinema. Screenings with a relaxed Aussie & Kiwi atmosphere will also feature at Prague’s Art District 7 in the summer cinema in front of the iconic Cross club in Holešovice. Tickets are on sale in advance at GoOut. We will present all films in the original version with Czech subtitles.

Three comedies and a drama based on real events – a fresh film selection from Australia and New Zealand, which will entertain and warm your heart after the hard times of the pandemic. The accompanying program will include two special screenings thanks to the cooperation with festival’s partners – Czech Television, Champagneria Bar, Foltýn Wine, Volt brewery and OKO! Magazine.

The four-leaf clover of holiday screenings will also feature two New Zealand comedies – Baby Done (Kasárna Karlín) and Guns Akimbo (Cross Club) together with a star-studded feature film based on real events Lion (Cross Club). At the end of September, the show will move to the Kino Pilotů cinema, where Australian-Czech director Barbara Chobocky and New Zealand-Czech director Michael Havas will present their documentaries to the audience.

“After a challenging festival period last year, we realized how wonderful it is to meet audiences in person in cinemas and share a passion for film, Australia and New Zealand. That is why this year we have prepared our film summer with comedies or wonderful human stories, and we hope that they will put people in cinemas in a good mood, ”says Martina Vacková, the festival’s founder and director.
