Much as time rushes on, moments can seem timeless. As I write, there is a sense of peace and good cheer around the campus, with clusters of students dotted around the place, and a bustle of people getting things arranged for the end of the school year. Equally, we have felt a sense of crescendo too, with the amazing Sports Day on Wednesday – amongst the most uplifting afternoons of the year – and Mr Waterhouse’s bravery in hurling Sweet Caroline onto the PA was matched only by the vigour of everyone’s rousing rendition of the chorus.
The recent Encore Showcase was an incredible reminder of the talent and hard work of our Performing Arts team, staff and students, and was just one of a number of productions and concerts even in this final week. I have had the pleasure of joining a number of our trips in recent weeks, including the Year 7 residential in Ingleton: the world really is still out there. The ultimate crescendo will be the Colour Run for Sparkle Malawi which, as I type, is a day away: it stands both for the spirit of service and support, and the vibrancy of our whole school community. The summer beckons, with challenges sure to come but, as this final half term concludes, our memories of these final weeks, and the joy of celebrating so many achievements in our Prize Giving ceremony, tantalise us with the possibilities of the future.

Year 13 Leavers
Our Year 13 are an amazing group of people who have achieved so much in their time at AKS Sixth Form. We wish them all the very best for their bright futures ahead . Class of 2021
'May all your dreams come true'
It has been an absolute pleasure to watch our Year 11sdevelop during their time in Middle School. We hope they have a well-deserved rest over the summer, and look forward to welcoming them back as Sixth Formers in September.
New Student Leadership Team Announced
We are delighted to introduce our new Student Leadership team for 2021. We look forward to all they will bring to their new roles and the work they will do as young leaders of our school.
Encore Showcase
Our Senior Students dazzled an audience of 200 at their end-of-year virtual Encore Showcase which brought the magic of the West End to the Fylde Coast.
This event was swiftly followed by Matilda the Mini-Musical, which entertained and delighted in equal measure.
Prep Pupils take to the stage
Mr Thomas created a feast for the eyes and plenty of laughs with the Year 3-5 musical, Learning to be Me which showcased the promising young talent coming up through the school. This was followed by Prep School's Summer Music Concert featuring A Million Dreams, sung by our Nursery and Infant classes and The Beat of the Drum, performed by Years 1 and 2 in addition to a raft of individual instrumentalists, including flute, guitar, saxophone, cello, piano and the cornet!
Congratulations to all our students who completed their Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions this half term, despite facing extreme and somewhat contradictory conditions. Year 11 (Silver) endured intense heat, whilst Year 13 (Gold) had to navigate in poor visibility and driving rain. The expedition undertaken by our Year 11 (Bronze) groups was especially memorable as it took place on what would have been the Duke of Edinburgh's 100th birthday. Visit our news pages to read more.
We are delighted to announce the development of a new Round Square Team in the Senior School which will build on the sterling work undertaken by Miss De Miranda over the past few years.
