Department of Homeland Security

The Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) mission is to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response and cybersecurity.

If you are interested in Federal Career, DHS has pathways for internships and jobs.

Summer Learning Academy with AT&T

Similar to the military, most robust organizations are directly supported by an embedded corporate university. To engage with students who may have lost their internships because of the pandemic, AT&T’s Corporate University is launching their Summer Learning Academy for college students.

Registration is open now and the program runs from July 12–23, 2021.

Free Museum Admissions Across America

The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will participate this summer in Blue Star Museums, a program organized by the National Endowment for the Arts that offers free admission and special discounts to military personnel and their families from Armed Forces Day (May 15) through Labor Day (Sept. 6) across the United States.

Each summer since 2010, Blue Star Museums have offered free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve. The nationwide list of participating museums is available at http://arts.gov/bluestarmuseums as is a parent toolkit for visiting museums with your family.
Free Financial Education for Veterans

The VA has teamed up with Prudential Financial to offer the monthly Wellness Wednesday Financial Education series to Veterans, transitioning service members and their families at no cost. The event occurs on the third Wednesday of every month.

Participants also have access to the Financial Wellness Center, a digital portal focused on learning, with over 100 short educational articles and interactive tools that include financial self-assessment, budgeting and student loan assistance and counseling.
Access Your Benefits through VA.gov

Veterans and their families can access their VA benefits and services on the new and user- friendly VA website. Users can now access information about VA benefits and services through a single site rather than through multiple locations.

To access their information, users are encouraged to use their current Digital Service (DS) Logon or create a new account using ID.me.

For more information about the switch from eBenefits to VA.gov, read the VAntage Point blog.
