Newsletter of July 2021

Although it's summer, the team is still working. Our engineers continued working on the Delta-XE, and we were present at Campus Cafe on Kennispark. Besides that, we finally got a new van, and we met up with the new team that will take over from us in September.

News

On the 8th of July, we were present at Campus Café on Kennispark. This was an event to meet and connect with students of Twente and the companies of Kennispark. It was great to see what everyone had to show at this Thursday afternoon fair!
Good news! Since our van broke down a few months ago, we have been busy finding a new one. And with great success! Now that the new van is proudly standing in our parking lot, we are working on designing its livery.
As the regulations regarding the corona situation allowed it, we organized a BBQ for all the teams of Electric Superbike Twente, including the team that will start coming September! It was a great evening where the new team got the chance to meet us and the previous team members.

Partner highlights

As pole position partner for the third time in a row, Aalberts, who engineers mission-critical technologies for everyday life, offered us access to their knowledge and technologies and played a crucial role in the development of our new electric superbike, the Delta-XE. Aalberts developed the titanium blackbox and delivered high-end materials for an important part of the frame. Additionally, they turned the titanium shaft that provides predictable dynamic movement between the rear suspension and chassis.
PCV Group has been a partner of Electric Superbike Twente since the first year! They are the biggest product and technology development consultant company in Europe. They are specialized in dispensing and dosing system solutions, as well as in mechatronics and embedded systems. This year, PCV Group supports us financially.
CAD2M is a company with knowledge and expertise in the design and manufacturing industry, as well as in the processes involved. They have a lot of knowledge about Solidworks, the software program in which we designed our superbike. Last year they gave us a CAD training to provide us with the required knowledge to design the Delta-XE.

A word from our Chief Chassis

This month things were on the slow and steady. Some of the chassis team have had their holidays and were not at the offices a lot. We did manage to get some stuff done, like building a cart that houses the battery during testing and mounting the cooling parts in their final places. Together with some members of the old team, we also worked on the Apex-RS and improved the way the battery is mounted.
The rest of our time was mainly filled with helping where needed. Because of the holidays and deadlines for finding the last missing team members, we had to do some other work than the usual chassis engineering encompasses. Now that the new team is complete, we have talked with the new chassis team about what they can do in the coming year. It is exciting to see the enthusiasm that they already have!

All in all, we are getting close to handing over everything to the new team. We finalized a lot of the documentation, and we bought some tools for the workshop. The new team can start with a fresh workshop, up-to-date information, and a safe place to work!

A word from our Chief Powertrain

This month was the last month that the current powertrain team is working full-time on the bike. Looking back, we have achieved great things, but there is always more work to do! We are now making everything ready to transfer the bike to the next team, tying loose ends and leaving our recommendations.
We are planning on doing some more dyno tests, adding functionality to the software, and checking the existing hardware and software, to see what can be improved and what should stay. We hope you have been following our progress and are as excited about the new powertrain team as we are. I am sure that the next team will find plenty to improve upon and that they finally get the opportunity to show what the superbike can do!
