Friends – We have exciting news!

We are thrilled to announce  the inaugural grantees for the Natural Resource Stewardship Career Pathways Grant – a grants program aimed to support organizations creating workforce opportunities in outdoor spaces for the next generation. 

From supporting youth of traditionally underinvested neighborhoods to Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) individuals, the following six programs are creating professional development opportunities for upcoming young professionals in the environmental stewardship field.

Without further ado, meet the 2021 Natural Resource Stewardship Career Pathways Grantees!

  • Amah Mutsun Land Trust (AMLT)  - The Native Stewardship Corps supports tribal members as they work on Indigenous stewardship projects throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains with training, housing, meals, wages, employee benefits and travel reimbursements.
     
  • Crystal Cove Conservancy- The Crystal Cove Natural Resource Summer Capstone Internship offers five paid internship opportunities for graduate, undergraduate and non-traditional students who aspire to work in natural resources to get on-hands experience.
     
  • Literacy for Environmental JusticeThe Eco-Apprenticeship Program is a paid workforce development internship serving individuals in southeast San Francisco ages 18-25 each year to develop leadership, native plant nursery and habitat restoration skills. 
     
  • Sierra Institute for Community and Environment & P-CREW (Plumas Conservation, Restoration, and Education in Watersheds) - The Plumas-Eureka State Park East Boundary Fuels Reduction Project seeks to restore ecological resilience to 40 acres of mixed-conifer forest at Plumas-Eureka State Park while introducing diverse groups of youth to forest management. 
     
  • Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods - The Career Pathway Partnership: Sonoma County Youth Ecology Corps and Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods program supports young adults 18-24 years of age with paid work experience, training, and the opportunity to explore careers and develop work-readiness skills through wildfire recovery efforts at California State Parks. 
     
  • Student Conservation Association- Wildland Fuels and Ecological Restoration in the Sinkyone Wilderness supports a team of four young adults who will spend six weeks to receive training and work on fuel reduction and ecological restoration projects in Sinkyone Wilderness State Park.
