July at Roper PT

Below are Roper PT's top monthly tips & picks for some quick inspiration and a look into each limb of our Pentagon of Wellness.
_____________

Using the Pentagon of Wellness as the foundation of our treatments is part of our integrative approach to physical therapy, treating the whole person and improving overall wellness.
Energetic Limb: The Sedentary Athlete

Have you heard of this buzz phrase? We've seen them, we know them, we've been them. If you've had an amazing hour-long workout in the morning, only to be followed by sitting the rest of the day- work, computer, TV, etc., then you know what we're talking about!

The benefits of exercise are widely studied, as are the downfalls of a sedentary lifestyle... so sitting for 8 hours following a workout can negate your efforts. Help maintain your exercise benefits by finding ways to move throughout the day. Here's some of our favorite ways:

- Create walking meetings with co-workers
- Do desk yoga throughout your day (check out our YouTube page!)
- Drink lots of water so you have to get up and use the bathroom often
- Take a small walk around your home or office during lunch

Spiritual Limb: Pride Month May Be Over but Inclusion Culture Remains!

Pride Month is a time when people come together to celebrate, honor, and show support for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. Here at Roper PT, we want to celebrate the lengths we’ve come as a country and to recognize the work that remains to be done for the LGBTQ+ community, far beyond the month of June.

Roper PT seeks to create a safe and welcoming environment for all, respecting people of all sexualities and genders who come through our doors.
Charlotte Pride Season 2021

Psycho-Emotional-Social Limb: Connecting with our friends
around Charlotte

We had a great time this past month re-connecting in person with our friends around the Charlotte area. Christine Roper taught a class to CLA accounting firm uptown and Rachel Gorman was a guest speaker/yoga instructor at the Charlotte Running Company & Hoka distance running camp for middle and high-schoolers.

Is your company getting back together in-person soon? We would love to be a part of your return to office, whether it's a wellness based discussion or a yoga class. Check out the link below to learn more.

Physical Limb: It's Fruit Salad Season

We love a good fruit salad in the summer. Did you know a lot of the fruits we often eat are on the dirty dozen list? The dirty dozen list identifies the top 12 fruits and vegetables which contain the highest levels of pesticides. These 12 foods are best to purchase organic when available! Fortunately, we're keeping you in the loop with the dirty dozen list below!

Intellectual Limb: Myofascial Release Can Help You Stay Active All Summer Long!

Summer fun! Having a blast! Roper PT wants to make sure you are able to have fun all year long without any nagging injuries, tightness, or range of motion losses. This is why we recommend our patients come in for myofascial release appointments to maintain range of motion, muscle efficiency, and healthy, active lives!

Roper PT’s Myofascial Release Approach is an intensive, hands-on technique for the whole body performed by licensed physical therapists, who have been highly trained by John F. Barnes, PT, the developer of the Myofascial Release Approach. Fascia is a three dimensional connective tissue web that surrounds EVERY structure of the body, including: bone, muscle, nerve, blood, vessel, and organs all the way down to the cellular level.
