Applications for the Robert & Daphne McIntyre Award
Open on Tuesday 1 June 2021
About the Award
This award came in to existence because of the generosity of Robert and Daphne McIntyre.  The award is to further develop the youth of Dumbleyung Shire so that they may contribute actively to both the future of the Shire and play an active role in the support of the Shire.
In August 2008 Robert McIntyre wrote to the Dumbleyung Shire Council with a proposal for an annual award in the form of a student scholarship donated every year by Robert and Daphne McIntyre.  This year the award is $3,000. The aim of the award is to assist the award recipient with education related expenses.
The creation of the award recognises the pioneering work done by Robert McIntyre’s parents and grandparents who first arrived in the Dumbleyung district in 1908, and the contribution they made to the community’s early development.
In October 2008 a committee was established to work with Robert and Daphne and over the ensuing months the selection criteria and Memorandum of Understanding were developed.  One year after Robert McIntyre first contacted the Council, the inaugural Robert and Daphne McIntyre Citizenship Award process was carried out. Since then there have been twelve successful recipients.  Applications for 2021 open on Tuesday 1 June 2021 and close on Friday 9 July 2021.
The presentation of the award is made annually at the December Council Meeting by the Shire President and Robert & Daphne McIntyre. The 2021 Award will be presented at the December Council Meeting on Thursday 16 December 2021.
The Award consists of:
1. A certificate presented to the recipient of the Award;
2. The sum of $3,000 to be paid to the recipient for future educational expenses; and

Stubbs Park Grandstand Changerooms Update
The final week of June 2021 has arrived and it has been a hive of activity down at the Stubbs Park Grandstand Changerooms with all hands on deck. The major works are complete with some minor clean up and final touches to see out the rest of the week.
While every project has it’s challenges, this project has been fortunate to see great problem solving by the trades during the build to achieve a better outcome. With less than six months to complete the demolition and rebuild of this facility, the Shire would like to thank all the local trades involved who stopped at nothing to meet the project deadline. There will be another update in the coming weeks along with the first use of the changerooms at the next Kukerin Dumbleyung Cougars home game at Stubbs Park. In the meantime, here are some sneak peaks of the project.
Contract Director of Infrastructure

Mr. Allister Butcher has been retained as a consultant for the Shire of Dumbleyung until the position has been filled. Allister is a previous employee with the Shire so he knows the district and we are extremely grateful for his assistance.

Fundraising Opportunity – Catering for Council Meetings
Community/ Sporting Groups or Individuals are invited to put their names forward for catering for one or more of the 2021 Council Meetings.  (If we have a large number of responses then it may mean that some groups/individuals may only be able to cater once and dates are awarded on first in best dressed.)  Caterers are asked to provide a main course and dessert for a minimum of 10 people and are paid $32 per head for February through to November.  The December Christmas Dinner can be up to $40 per head depending on the menu and expressions of interest are sought for this closer to the date.  If you are looking for a little extra income then this is a simple and easy opportunity for local groups to raise funds.
We require caterers for the following meetings; 19 August 2021, 21 October 2021.
