  HSE First Aid at Work
This course was written by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for the work place. It is the standard qualification in the UK for First Aiders at Work and is nationally recognised. HSE First Aid at Work is a 3 day (or 6 evening) course. Although run regularly from our centre we can come to you and run it at your workplace if required. The course covers a variety of topics, including CPR, AED use, burns & scalds, eye injuries, anaphylactic shock, recognising a heart attack and much more.

For those in our industry, this course is the minimum qualification for anyone wanting to become qualified to teach either the RYA or HSE First Aid courses themselves.  Find out more about the HSE Instructor course below.

  RYA Radar

Popular on both sailing and motor boats, Radar is an invaluable aid for pilotage, navigation and for collision avoidance. It is though, only useful in the hands of a knowledgeable and experienced operator. This course provides the knowledge for you to gain the experience.

Small craft radar is probably the most versatile of all electronic navigation aids. Over a day or 2 evenings of training we can teach you how to adjust the controls, interpret the picture and make use of the set for navigation and collision avoidance.

The course can be delivered to you by webinar with a simulator installed on your PC, it can be in our class room using our Radar simulators or can be on board your boat using your own live radar set. Up and coming webinar dates include the 2 evenings of 13/14 September 2021.

Sailors Superstitions & Fish Wives Tales
In this feature we examine a well known sailing myth or meteorological lore.

"WHEN WINDOWS WON'T OPEN AND THE SALT CLOGS THE SHAKER, THE WEATHER WILL FAVOUR THE UMBRELLA MAKER!"

Ignoring the rather non marine reference (umbrella), this fish wife’s tale is based on simple science.... click for more
