July Discussion

Thank you to everyone who voted on the topic for our last discussion before the summer !! We've counted up all the votes and it turns out this topic is very timely:

As we may soon be post-pandemic, how do we can hold onto remote work and other changes enforced on the industry that worked positively out for us?

The discussion will be hosted by the lovely Katie Menzies and taking place on Zoom 7th July 7.30pm - 8.30pm

If you're interested in discussing life post-pandemic and have thoughts you'd like to share we'd love for you to join us !!
You can grab a ticket here

Looking forward to chatting with you soon !!
If you have any issues please give us an email

IN REAL LIFE meet up August

Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll for our first in real life meet up !! Hopefully, we will still be able to meet up by August, but the date that works for the most people is

Saturday 7th August 1pm - 4pm

We'll be setting up a picnic spot in (hopefully) sunny Regents Park !! It'll be a BYOB event, so brings drinks and nibbles and join us for what will be a wonderful day catching up with the amazing animation women of London !!

Mentoring

During our ‘Ageing in Animation’ Discussions, we found that mentoring came up again and again as a wonderful way to give back to the industry !! So the brilliant Helen Piercy has given us a breakdown of what it means to be a mentor:

WHY BE A MENOR?

  • Mentoring is a fantastic way to help others by passing on knowledge gained through experience
  • It provides the opportunity to reflect on your own career path and helps you to see things from another's perspective
  • It challenges your ability to give feedback and helps develop communication skills
  • It is a wonderful way to meet new people and give back to the industry by supporting the next generation of talent

WHY BE A MENTEE?
  • Being a mentee allows you to focus on what is important to you and your career development
  • Having a mentor gives you the opportunity to discuss your ambitions and set actions to achieve your goals
  • You gain access to professional advice and broaden your understanding of the industry
  • Make new connections and build your network within a supportive environment.

Black and POC Database of Animators and Directors

We've created a database of Black and WOC animators/illustrators/directors here in the UK for anyone who’d like to put their information in there. Just a reminder that this list will be shared with studios and creatives who are looking to work with women on their projects, so only share information you feel comfortable being shared with studios.

We need to be more aware of being inclusive within our social circles at work and not just passing jobs onto people we already know. Having a good database of amazing women to reference we feel could really help that, so please pop your details on here. This database goes mainly to London based studios who more often than not request in-house teams, so if you live outside of London or are international, please fill in the “Available for remote work” section with your current city of residence.

Ways to get involved with She Drew That

Join our database of members
Our spreadsheet is a nice way to share your information with the Directors and Studios we work with, so we’d like to encourage our freelance members to share the type of work they’re available for. You can add your details here, but only what you’re comfortable sharing.

Join us on Slack
The Slack group is primarily a forum for sharing and critiquing work during the monthly challenge. We’d like to build it into a place where animators can share other personal projects, advice, technical questions and potential job opportunities.
