Effective tomorrow, July 1, 2021, House Bill 146 will provide three weeks of paid parental leave for eligible state employees following the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child.

At some point in their lives, nearly every working person will welcome a new child, deal with a serious health issue, or need to provide care to an ill, injured, or disabled loved one. Yet, despite modest progress in recent years, only an estimated 21% of U.S. workers have access to paid family leave through their employer

"We have observed a number of public and private investments in paid family leave over recent years. It's clear that policies like paid family leave provide benefits to employers, families, children, and the economy. We're excited to see a growing level of commitment to family-friendly policies in the future."

-Mindy Binderman, Executive Director, GEEARS

The importance of paid family leave is increasingly recognized across political and demographic lines, with GEEARS’ recent statewide poll finding that nearly 9 in 10 Georgia voters support paid family leave.

We are pleased to share our latest video in which you’ll hear directly from business leaders, parents, and policymakers on the critical role paid family leave plays in the health of Georgia’s families, businesses, and economy. We hope you’ll take a few moments to view and share this video and join us as we work to increase access to this business- and family-friendly asset.
