OSHA-30 Construction Safety Training 

Wed, July 21 - Fri, July 30 | 9am- 4pm

The next sesssion of the popular Construction Safety Class at Skyland Workforce Center will start on Wednesday, July 21. The class covers OSHA-30, Flagger  and CPR/First AidThe class will start on Wednesday, July 21 and go until Friday July 30, from 9am – 4pm each day. Students must be able to attend each day with no absences. Students must be DC residents, with a high school diploma or GED and a resume on file at the Workforce Center.  If you are interested, you can sign up now. Walk-in Computer Workshops at MLK Library

Free Introductory Workshops

On Tuesdays and Thursday, the Martin Luther King Library at 901 G Street NW offers introductory computer workshops, inlcuding

  • PC Basics (Thurday, July 8, 4pm)
  • Intro to Windows (Wednesday, July 14, 1pm)
  • Google Sheets (Friday, July 9, 11:30am)
  • Typing (Friday, July 9, 2:30pm)
  • PowerPoint Basics (Monday, July 12, 11:30am)

Seats are limited to 12 participants and will be filled on a first-come, first-served walk-in basis. Please arrive a half-hour early to sign in for a seat at one of the 12 workstations.
 

COVID Rental Assistance Program
Get Help Paying Rent and Utility Bills

STAY DC is the District’s new emergency rental assistance program to help households unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more by visiting stay.dc.gov or calling 833-4-STAYDC.
Free Meals Wednesday At Center
Come to the Skyland Workforce Center Wednesday for a free Prepared Meal 

We have free prepared meals for you to take home every Wednesday at 2509 Good Hope Road SE from 10 am until all the meals are gone!
DPR Block Parties, Concerts, Classes and More

The DC Department of Recreation has a host of fun summer event planned, including outdoor movie nights, senior art and fitness classes, vegetable giveaways and more.  A full calendare is available at dpr.events.

Craft Time at Anacostia Library

Tuesdays, 11am
The Anacostia Library has craft time on the plaza in front of the library every Tuesday at 11am. Registration is required, call (202) 698-1959 to register. They provide all the supplies. Bring your imagination and you can take home what you make!
