This Week @ Faith

July 4 - 10, 2021

Pastor Steve Jackson, Preaching

The Gospel:  Hope for the World

We will never rightly appreciate God’s salvation until we rightly evaluate our problem – namely our sin.  Join us on Sunday as we consider the effects of sin upon each of us.  Owning our problem is never easy, but it is the only way to move forward.

As many of you know, on June 15th, significant changes were made to the Los Angeles County Health Officer Order in light of the re-opening of our State.  As mentioned during the recent Elder Update, your Elder Team began discussions following the release of the updated Order, and we have agreed to incorporate the following changes in our operations as a ministry:

- Faith Community Church, in accordance with the Los Angeles County Health Officer Order dated June 15th, is no longer subject to any capacity limits or physical distancing requirements.  Therefore, feel free to sit next to one another and continue to warmly welcome one another!

- Further, Faith Community Church will no longer require all those who enter our building to be masked.  For the newest official guidelines in these matters, please refer to Section 4 (a—d) in the latest Health Office Order, available here on the LA County DPH website.

- Lastly, Faith Community Church will not require verification of vaccination.

Let’s praise the Lord as our State reopens and our ministry continues to expand!

Local Outreach:  Bless a Business 2.0 - Thursday, July 8, 2021

As requested, Bless a Business is back!  Here are some new ideas for how we can show our care for the community by supporting our local restaurants and businesses:

  • Wear your Faith branded gear when you go.  Don’t have anything?  Stop by the Local Outreach Table in the Foyer on Sunday morning and grab a shirt.
  • Attend as a Life Group.  Life Groups have always had funds set aside for Local Outreach.  You can use some of these funds to attend as a Life Group event while blessing a business.
  • Double up on the outreach.  Is there someone you’re reaching out to?  Take them out to lunch and tell them why you’re going there!
  • When you visit the business, leave a note with a nice tip to let the business know why you’re there and that Faith is supporting them.

This week's business:
Hummus Republic
(28108 Newhall Ranch Rd, Valencia, CA  91355)

Stop by on Thursday, July 8th, between 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.

Hummus Republic is owned by the same people who provided free meals at Festividad for both guests and volunteers.  When COVID-19 hit, their catering business completely stopped so they pivoted to open this new restaurant.  Let’s support them for the support they showed us!

We would love to concentrate our support of this business on Thursday, July 8th, but if another day works better for you, no problem!  The main goal is to bless this business, and your support at any time will do just that.

Join the Prayer Team!

One of the great privileges that believers have in Christ is praying for one another.  If you are a Member of Faith, please consider joining one of our Prayer Teams for the 2021-2022 ministry year.  E-mail Susie Townsend for more details.

Mercy Ministry Update from Brian Jones

We understand that some of you are still facing difficult times.  If you are facing a financial need but have been reluctant to ask for help because you think another needs it more, please reconsider.  Our Mercy Fund has Walmart gift cards, Target gift cards, and Arco fuel cards.  Financial assistance is also available to help with payments or bills.  We stand ready to serve and bless you with joy and discretion.  Please contact me, Brian Jones, at bri-jones@sbcglobal.net to learn more.

Do you need help with rent or utilities?  Financial assistance is available from the State of California for income eligible renters and their landlords who have been impacted by COVID-19 and have past due rent or utilities, or who need help with upcoming rent or utilities.  Both renters and landlords are encouraged to apply.  Click here to learn more.

Giving Reminder

Thank you for continuing to give to the ministry here at Faith!  We have three convenient ways of receiving your support for the Lord's work.  One way is through online giving.  You can also deposit your giving on Sunday mornings in one of the locking offering boxes at the rear of the Sanctuary.  Lastly, you can mail your giving to the Church Office.

Prayer Requests
We still want to be praying for you.  If you have a prayer request you would like to share with our Prayer Team, please e-mail it to:  prayer@faithcommunitychurch.com.  If you wish to limit your request to the Elder Team, please be sure to indicate "Elders Only" in the subject line of your e-mail.  You can also submit prayer requests using the digital L.K.i.T. on Sunday mornings through the Church Center App.
