FINDING A STYLE THAT'S ALL YOURS

Trying to match your tastes to terms like Traditional, Mid-century Modern, or Contemporary is a tempting way to try to narrow what you want, but your family is full of varied personalities, needs, and tastes – and your home should reflect those. We always warn our clients against boxing themselves into one aesthetic category or another. There’s a lot to appreciate about every design style and architectural period – and when you blend them, something magically unique is created.

To create a look that’s completely personal to your family, we dive a lot deeper than color palettes and categories – we talk about how you live, how your home functions, and who you are. In our latest blog post, we share some questions you can ask yourself to get the inspiration flowing. When you’re ready to start bringing your style to life, we’re here to help!

 FEATURED PROJECT

WARRIDGE

A full redesign of the client’s childhood home, this project is a beautiful tribute to the generations of memories that live within. A new 2500 square-foot addition includes a master suite, office, and hearth room with wood paneled ceilings and historical copper and brass lights that were a treasured keepsake from the client’s father. Intricate tile work abounds, from the brass and marble bar backsplash to the textured porcelain kitchen tile, while a screened porch opens up the living space to the outside. With rich textures and sleek finishes, this home captures a comfortable glamour equally perfect for relaxing, entertaining, or reminiscing.

BEHIND THE SCENES

This lower level is being renovated into a sophisticated man cave, complete with a custom-designed guitar cabinet to house the client’s collection! We’ve also designed custom built-ins (including a beautiful new fireplace) in a gorgeous, rich wood stain to perfectly match the paneling we installed on the lower half of the walls. The quartzite for the fireplace surround and countertops has amazing veining with the cognac accent color that we are using throughout the space. Next up: wallcovering!

DESIGN HACK

We always love bringing the outdoors in – especially in summertime! – so here are a few of our favorite ways to incorporate fresh flowers into your home décor:
  • Use bouquets of all shapes and sizes. Big or small, any arrangement can create a statement. Instead of tucking one vase in the corner of the window, line the entire sill with tiny vases filled with different flowers for a burst of summer beauty.
  • Get creative with containers. Who says a vase is the only way to hold flowers? Playing around with different containers adds an extra dash of style (and fun) to your display.
  • Lighten things up. Combine light, summery fabrics with fresh flowers to build gorgeous seasonal table settings.
