The “Mineral Point Gallery” Opens 8/7/21 on Gallery Night.  The Gallery Represents Ben Brummerhop & over 25 other artists and creators with a focus on indigenous artists & folk artists.  They have filled the the gallery with art & artists they love & have taken the time to select each piece of art in the gallery.  Many of our artists are new to the Mineral Point market.  Located at 22 High St.  Check them out.

I am posting several Picnic & a Play events at Shake Rag & Alley Stage.  I won’t repeat the details for each one, but here they are:  Picnics can be purchased for pick-up in the Shake Rag Alley Cafe at 12 noon. You are welcome to bring your picnic from home. Local musicians will provide entertainment. Non-alcoholic beverages plus wine & beer will be available for purchase. The picnic is $15 & the play tickets are $5
    .  1 pm: The actors and moderator will take the stage with their scripts. 
        Talkback: Stay after the play & share your feedback with the playwright.

9/17/21 The Miners Ball, 5-10 pm.  A formal event for people of all ages & everyone passionate about the history of Platteville.  Dress up, enjoy a great dinner, & swing to the music of a Big Band orchestra— just like generations of young engineers in training did starting back in 1926.  At  Velzy Commons, Ullsvik Hall, UW-Platteville (corner of Main & Hickory Streets).   Gourmet buffet dinner, cash bar, silent & live auction, and dancing! Music by the full Ken Kilian Classic Big Band, delivering the fullness & swinging sound of the Big Band era with 5 saxophones, 6brass, full rhythm section & a featured vocalist.  Tickets: Dinner tickets $50 each, including social and dance. 10/29/21 Dar Williams Performing at the Mineral Point Opera House.  Dar Williams  She rose out of the vibrant mid-90’s Boston scene, inspired by the eclectic influences of alt-rockers, Berklee jazz musicians, slam poets, & folk artists. 10/30/21 Halloween Movie and Costume Contest for Kids at the Mineral Point Opera House Sponsored by Mineral Point Kiwanis and Key Clubs & the Mineral Point Public Library.  Beginning at 10 am sharp, children’s costumes will be judged. Prizes will be donated by various businesses.  While the results are tabulated, youngsters will be treated to a short Halloween kids movie.  After, the winners will be announced.  Each participating child will receive a treat.

 
10/31/21 Trick or Treat at Shake Rag Alley, 5-7 PM, 18 Shake Rag St., Mineral Point.  Free  If you are a kid or want to act like a kid – put on your wildest costume & come visit.  Children of all ages will meet friendly (not scary) costumed characters who will be passing out Halloween treats at each of the Shake Rag historic buildings. This Mineral Point tradition is enjoyable for the whole family and a way to meet so many other free spirits and check out their wacky get-ups.
