Our hearts are full of gratitude - a prayer that we have longed for has been answered!

In March 2018, two boys, Renz and Ryan, were placed in our care joining their older sisters Rosebel and Rube Lou, who were already with us. Before all of them came to our care, they were victims of neglect and physical abuse by their own father since their mother passed away when they were young.
They lived on a garbage dump and went through many days without clean water, food or shelter.

The Briongos' siblings were not able to go to school and suffered severely in the hands of their abusive father surrounded by pollution and poverty.
Their home on the notorious garbage dump Smokey Mountain is right across our Day Care Center in Tondo, Manila.

So all four of them would regularly come to our center for hot meals and clean water to shower. Quickly it was clear that they needed more help.
Eventually, we found a way to rescue them. One by one they came to our Village of Hope.
This is Renz while he was with us.
This was Ryan while he was with us.
Only eight months after the boys have happily settled and enjoyed the clean surroundings, care, love and education they were pulled out of our care by the government. Their drug addicted father promised to take better care of his children and forced them to return to him.
These were Renz and Ryan when they were back in the care of their father.
Unfortunately, after a short while the two boys ended up neglected again without food and education. When we asked the father to let his sons return to our care, he tried to make money out of their misery.
He heavily insisted on a payment again and again. As a reputable organization that aims to help people purposefully, we denied his requests.

We long fought for the rights and the well-being of Ryan and Renz but our hands were tied.
We hoped that someday, we could find an opportunity to change the situation.
Thankfully, about three years later, that came true on June 2021! We received assistance from an influential child advocate who made the way for the rule to be overturned.

It was at last proven to the authorities that Ryan and his older brother were in a dire situation being neglected by their own father. With this, a rescue operation was set up and the two brothers finally came back to us on July 9!
It was a long process but we are grateful that they returned!

All the more, what touches our hearts is the gladness and relief that the two sisters felt once they saw Ryan and Renz.
We thank you for all the prayer you lift up with us, it keeps us going and fighting for what is right. They now have a renewed hope for a future that is full of possibilities. In that, a door was opened and a miracle happened.
