ISO: Paving the way to a more sustainable world

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has just released the first standard dedicated to the sustainability of an individual material. The standard outlines the requirements for sustainable ceramic tiles in accordance with environmental, economic and social criteria and is expected to become a benchmark for sustainability in construction products.

WHO: New recommendations for the screening and treatment of cervical cancer
|
|
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Human Reproduction Programme (HRP) have launched a new guideline to help countries make faster and more equitable progress on the screening and treatment of cervical cancer – a particularly pertinent issue among the world’s poorest women. The new guideline makes recommendations that are specific for women living with HIV and calls for all women to ensure they get regular cervical cancer screening tests.

GAIN supports food system SMEs during the pandemic
|
|
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) set up the Keeping Food Markets Working programme to provide assistance to food system workers, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) supplying nutritious foods, and fresh food markets. So far, business guidance and emergency cash has been given to over 100 SMEs across Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Rwanda.

GCERF: Empowering the next generation in the Philippines to have a future without extremism

A Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) programme is preventing violent extremism and radicalisation among young individuals in Lanao del Sur, Philippines. It helps socially-excluded young people connect with others facing similar issues providing many with new optimism as they find their value and identity and in turn empowers them to help others build their own communities.

Soutenue par la Fondation Hirondelle basée à Genève, la radio Studio Tamani diffuse tous les jours en cinq langues différentes pour faciliter le dialogue entre Maliens et contribuer au processus de paix dans le pays. Studio Tamani rassemble 1,3 millions d’auditeurs à travers 85 radios dans tout le pays, et diffuse aussi sur internet et par téléphone.
