Pay on the Day - Trial

Due to COVID we were forced to move to an advance booking system, same as every other industry. We understand that there is a minority that are unable to book in this way. We will be trialling a "Pay on the day" service.

It is still preferred, and easier for everyone if paddlers book a place in advance through the Portal. If you are unable to do this then you can turn up in advance of the session, report into the Club House and a volunteer will book you in through the Portal and take payment.

This trial will only apply to Monday's sessions. In week sessions will remain as they are and trips and events will be manages as the organiser feels fit.

Beginners White Water

When : 15th August
Where : Meeting at Club, paddling at Howsham Weir

While river levels are low we are unable to run more advanced trips, so in the mean time here's another Beginners session.

We have 6 places available initially but this can be expanded if we have more river leaders available. We have slots for learners and an Assistant Coach if one of our more experienced paddlers wants to come along and learn how to coach white water.

Club Camping & Family Weekend 2022

There are very few places left on the Campsite. When I looked last night only one All Weather Pitch with Electric was available!

Please book your place and then send an email to kkcevents@googlegroups.com, telling us who will be coming in your party. This will allow us to plan the activities and we will contact you closer to the date to arrange equipment if you need to borrow this form the Club.

GoMembership

We are currently using GoMembership, provided by British Canoeing to manage our memberships and events. We were asked by British Canoeing to be an "early adopter" in order to promote and help identify an issues in the system.

As issues appear we are raising Tickets with GoMembership so they can be fixed.

Marathon racing is conducted in divisions; the lower divisions can use any sort of kayak or canoe but higher divisions use specialised marathon boats, long, narrow and very unstable when stationary!

Canoe polo is played by teams of five and the basic aim is for them to pass the ball from player to player, by hand, and score in their opponents’ goal while at the same time defending their own goal.

Slalom competitions take place every weekend throughout the country. Division 4 is suitable for beginners of any age. Slalom helps with the development of speed, boat control and white water skills which can be used in all aspects of canoeing and kayaking.

We will only be sending out one email per week going forward. This will be sent on Friday of each week. All content must be submitted by Wednesday to allow us to put the email together in time for sending. If you have anything that needs publishing please email newsletter@kkc.org.uk.
