We Fight for HER

Dear Fellow Advocate,

We hope you and your loved ones are enjoying the summer!

The Women's Community Justice Association would like to invite you to pledge your formal individual and / or organizational support for our #BEYONDrosies Campaign. The Beyond Rosie’s Campaign seeks to close the Rose M. Singer center, the only female jail on Rikers Island with a little over 300 people. We imagine a system with less than 100 people detained at one time and reside in a space of support and healing rather than punishment.

When a woman is incarcerated her whole community feels the impact, from her children to her employer. Simply put, people do better and are more stable in their life when they have housing and their needs met. If a woman must be detained, it should be in a trauma informed, trauma responsive, gender specific facility that seeks to heal and support instead of harm and punish.

Show your formal support for the #BEYONDrosies Campaign by signing on as an individual here or as an organization here.

For more information about the campaign, please feel free to email Jordyn Rosenthal, Director of Community Engagement at Jordyn@wcja.org or Sharon White-Harrigan, Executive Director at Sharon@wcja.org.

We greatly appreciate your continued solidarity and support, and would love to have your formal commitment to the cause!

In Solidarity,

WCJA
