Villa Rica Rodeo!

It is almost time for the 16th Annual Don-Rich Ford Villa Rica Frontiers' Rodeo!

At this 16th annual edition, bull riding and calf roping are just two of the rodeo events families can expect to see. In addition, there will be activities for the kids, as well as a wide variety of food available including barbecue, hamburgers, and hotdogs, funnel cakes, hot boiled peanuts, and ice-cold drinks!

Over the years, the Rodeo has been an opportunity for Villa Rica school groups to benefit by running the parking and holding raffles. This year, the Villa Rica High School Soccer Team collects and retains 100% of parking donations to support their extracurricular team activities.

The rodeo will be held on Friday, Aug 27th & Saturday, Aug 28th, at 2011 Carrollton Villa Rica Highway (Highway 61), one mile south of the V-Plex. Gates open at 6 pm and the Rodeo begins at 8 pm. For more information visit the Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/villaricarodeo

Get to Know Our Legal Assistant!

We would like to spotlight our awesome legal assistant, Emily, this month!

Emily joined the Law Office of Julie C. Moore as a Legal Assistant in 2020. She lives locally here in Carroll County, and she graduated from Bowdon High School in 2015.

After high school, Emily attended the University of West Georgia where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. As a UWG student, Emily interned with UWG Communications and Marketing, where she wrote articles for UWG’s website and was even featured in The Times Georgian.

Fun Fact About Emily: I enjoy traveling, and once took a road trip to the Western United States where I visited 15 states in the span of a month!

We did a lot of hiking and camping and focused heavily on the National Park System. The states I visited on that trip were Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Kansas, South Dakota, Missouri, Iowa, and Tennessee.

New Roundabout at SR 61/Dallas Highway and Punkintown Road

"Hello, Friends!

As some of you may have noticed, we now have a brand new roundabout at the SR 61/ Dallas Highway and Punkintown intersection!

I am so happy to share this news because this intersection has specifically been the site of several tragic accidents. I recently helped one family that was in a wreck in this area when someone blew through the stop sign and severely injured everyone involved. I am very hopeful that this will help keep everyone in the community safer.

The new roundabout will also help with the traffic flow in the downtown area. It is very common to come through this intersection and it take 15+ minutes to get through it. Villa Rica is growing and getting better every day- one project at a time!"

Need A Laugh?

Funny and Weird Arrest Stories

A man wearing a t-shirt that reads "Who needs drugs? No, seriously, I have drugs," was arrested for.. you guessed it.. drug possession.

John Balmer is a 50-year old man that was found shopping in K-Mart when he was arrested for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, which obtained the arrest report, the man was standing in line at K-Mart when a cop walked in. He frantically started trying to ditch his drugs. He allegedly tried to hand over a bag of “leafy green substance” to a patron standing behind him. The patron denied Balmer’s request.

Balmer then tried to escape by tossing the bag to the ground and casually paying for his items, but he didn’t get too far. K-Mart employees eventually told authorities about Balmer’s rather illegal contribution to the store’s floor, and he was arrested shortly after.

I normally applaud creative marketing efforts for small businesses, but being a walking billboard for drug sales is not the best idea.
