#1A. COVID-19 Pop-Up Vaccination Clinic

AMA will be facilitating the pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic on July 18 for residents from any of Ottawa's priority neighbourhoods. You're eligible to receive the vaccine if you satisfy the following criteria:

• First doses are available for any priority neighbourhood resident aged 12 years of age or older at the time of vaccination
• Second doses are available for any priority neighbourhood resident aged 12 years of age or older who received their first dose of an mRNA vaccine at least 28 days before their appointment. Residents who received their first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine can receive an mRNA vaccine after 56 days

Here are the details for the pop-up vaccination clinic:

Date & Time: Sunday, July 18 at 9:45 AM to 4:30 PM

Appointment Type: Same-day appointments can only be made in-person no earlier than two hours before the clinic opens, on a first come first served basis, while supply lasts.

If there is a waiting period, residents may receive an appointment card with a time to return to the clinic for their vaccine.

Vaccination offered: Pfizer-BioNtech (age 12 or older) and/or Moderna (age 18 or older)

Please note:

• You must be 12 or older on the day of your appointment to get the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine
• You must be 18 or older on the day of your appointment to get the Moderna vaccine

#2. Multicultural Event and Bazaar

AMA will be hosting a special event on Friday, July 23. This Eid ul-Adha, we will be hosting our FIRST virtual multicultural event and bazaar!

This is a one stop shop for a wide variety of quality products; from sweets, clothing, accessories, books and games to Islamic merchandise for all ages and more! What's more? It's free for the whole community to attend.

There will be activities for every family member to enjoy, whether it be a cultural seminar, family trivia or a kids online field trip!

#4A. Boys Fun Contest

Calling all youth! Join us for an afternoon of learning and competition.

Our next program is for youth ages 9 – 13 will be an Islamic-themed trivia contest using Kahoot.

On the day of the event the youth should come with their full focus to learn an important Islamic lesson, answer trivia questions, have fun, and compete for the top spot.

Here are the details:

Date: Saturday, July 17

Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Age: Boys 9 – 13 years old

Location: Zoom virtual app

Cost: Free!

Each registrant will be sent an email prior to the program containing the Zoom link.

#4B. Girls Fun Contest

AMA is proud to host the Girls Fun Contest, an Islamic-themed trivia contest using Kahoot, for girls ages 9 -13.

Time: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Ages: Girls 9 – 13 years old

Location: Zoom virtual app

#5. Muslimah Reflections

We are pleased to offer Muslimah Reflections, a bi-weekly program for young women.

This program includes guest speakers who discuss a range relevant and important topics for Muslim sisters. Our next topic will be "The virtues of Dhul Hijjah and Hajj."

#6. Helping Hands

The Helping Hands program is back this Sunday! Firstly, we want to thank the community for their generous contributions!

We must continue to buy food from restaurants for future Helping Hands events due to the ongoing pandemic. Our next event will be this Sunday, June 18.

If you have suggestions or special ties to any restaurant that can sponsor future Helping Hands events, please let us know. You can send your donations by email transfer to: info@amacanada.org ($5 or $10 donations would be greatly appreciated). Please make sure to specify it is for Helping Hands in the e-transfer message.

We also need drivers to deliver the food. Please email us at helpinghands@mymasjid.ca if you can drive the food to a shelter.

Lastly, we need your dua'a to ensure the program continues to thrive and help the needy in Ottawa.

This program is exclusively for sisters. Whether you are just starting to learn Qur’an for the first time or you are an advanced student, we will help you on your journey to completing the memorization of the entire Qur’an.

Dates: Sundays starting from Sept. 5 – June 26

Time: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Location: Virtual via Zoom

Cost: $200 per child for the whole year (includes the course book).

Student Download: Parents are requested to download the Bidayah book for free by clicking here.

Levels: 

• Level 1/2 for Beginners
• Level 3 for Intermediate
• Level 4/5 for the last 5 Juz
• Level 6 for Juz Amma to Ahqaf

There is also a new halaqa for university students.
