Spiritual: Inter Faith week (14th-21st November 2021) is a great opportunity for pupils to explore inter faith issues and for schools to build relationships with faith, belief and inter faith groups in the local community. It is an opportunity to focus on diversity, equality and inclusion in our society all of which help to create a more peaceful an tolerant world for us to live in. Start the week off with a Inter Faith week poster by clicking here and arrange activities such as organising an exhibition in your school featuring information and objects about a range of religions and beliefs reflecting your local population or organise a virtual tour of local places of worship to investigate the importance of faith in the lives of believers in your school community.

Moral: This will be an important time for COP26 (1st - 12th November) about planning and taking action against climate change. This year this meeting of world leaders will take place in Glasgow from 1st - 12th November. The leaders will decide on actions and targets to address the need to cut carbon dioxide and emissions to protect our planet.
As a class or school, you could get involved by talking about climate change, learning and understanding more about why we should all care, and what we can do to take action in school and at home You could write to your local MP, letting them know how your class feel about saving our planet. Perhaps you could listen to some of Greta Thunberg’s speeches on You tube or watch clips from David Attenborough’s Blue Planet. Maybe your school can set up a climate crisis committee consisting of students, staff, senior leaders, parents and members of the local community. Working together, such a group can agree what action needs to be taken and develop a whole school strategy and plan of action. Social: This year the theme of Anti-bullying week (November 15th - 19th 2021) is One Kind Word. Kindness is a powerful tool in our world today. We have all seen wonderful acts of kindness and consideration which have inspired and spread hope during the isolation felt by many during the COVID pandemic. During the week we are all encouraged to use kind words and kind actions and see the amazing power that kindness has to spread hope rather than negativity. Why not as a school kick off the week with odd socks day, odd Socks Day is all about celebrating the fact that everyone is unique, and that we can respect each other individuality. And all you need to do to get involved is don a pair of odd socks! Or perhaps join in with an anti-bullying workshop run by OpenView education, to help students learn to respond to bullying and conflict in an effective way. Cultural: National Read A Book Day (September 6th 2021) is celebrated annually and is designed to encourage all of us to curl up with a book or read aloud to family and friends, to reignite enthusiasm for reading and enjoying books together. This is a brilliant opportunity at the beginning of the term to celebrate the joy of reading and initiate new reading patterns and routines for the coming school year. Perhaps as a class you could set up a cosy reading corner, share favourite books and authors, listen to audio books and authors and famous people reading books aloud, or maybe even write a letter to a favourite author, click here to access available resources you may find useful.
