Chairman's Chat

The new club house at Carrington
Dear Members,
Welcome to this month ‘Chairman’s Chat’, and what a month it has been. It has been fantastic to see the clubhouse open for the British & Ireland Lions games and of course England’s run to the cup final. Thank you to all who have attended these events, and don’t forget that we are open for the remaining Lions Tour games and I hope to see you down there. Please note for the first Test it is ticket only with a special food offering and live music post-match. Tickets are available to purchase via the website.

For those that have been down for these events since we reopened our doors, you will have noticed that we have some fantastic new food on offer. This has been created and prepared for you by our new Executive Chef Eugene Mouton, who has come on board to revamp our catering offerings for functions, match days at both Heywood Road and Carrington and our club events. Eugene has been the owner and head chef of the successful local restaurant Table 10 for over 15years, having previously been head chef for 8 years at the renowned 39 Steps in Manchester.

Eugene will be moving Table 10 to the Suite at Heywood Road, where he will be running Table 10 themed nights on selected evenings. We will be introducing you to Eugene and our plans in more detail via the webpage in the next couple of weeks when we will also be announcing our new match day offerings of both pre and post-match food.

We can also share the news that the Carrington club house has been completed and it looks fantastic. I would like to give a massive thank you to all the volunteers and those who have worked so hard to make this happen. We see this new clubhouse as being a fantastic social space and becoming the heart of everything we do at Carrington. I know all our players from every team throughout the club are going to love this space.
The house committee are already planning events for the new season and next month’s newsletter will highlight the diary of events for the whole season. We are also advertising online for pre-match meals on the 11th September for our first home match vs Cambridge as well as ‘Bottomless Brunch’ pre-match event on the 25th September when we play at home vs Plymouth Albion.

Membership renewals will go live in early August and this will be an online system. Each member will be registering with the RFU through the GMS system. We will ensure that there will guidance and if needed support for members to help them complete the process. We will be sharing information online on how to sign up at the beginning of August. Please note that the prices for memberships will remain the same as last year.

Our Director of Rugby Jonathan Keep has announced his 1st XV preseason fixtures, where we will see his team play against Rotherham Titans at home on the 7th August. This is followed by Sedgley Tigers at home on the 14th August, with a return match at Sedgley on the 21st August before a final pre-season game away to Fylde on the 28th August.

Finally, I can share the fantastic news that Cotton Traders, CorpAcq, Caunce O’Hara, Morson, The Window Co and PES will be returning as club partners and sponsors for the 2021-22 season. We cannot thank these organisations enough for supporting the club. Their continued commitment to Sale FC Rugby allows us to plan and offers us stability as we plan to get back to playing rugby. We will be announcing more renewals of partnerships in the coming weeks.

Yours in Rugby
Dr Scott Bambrick
