Dear Neighbour,

The provincial government has announced that we will move to Step 3 of the Roadmap to Reopen this Friday.

Starting at 12:01am on Friday, July 16, the Step 3 measures will come into force. For more details on what this entails, please see below.

As of July 8, 2021, over 77% of the Ontario population aged 12+ have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and over 50% have received their second dose. This is tremendous progress. If you haven’t yet received your first or second dose, please visit Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or call 1-833-943-3900 to make an appointment. Expanded vaccine opportunities are also listed below.

It has been encouraging to see high vaccination rates across Parkdale--High Park. However, I know that it has been harder for some parts to access vaccines. For instance, according to Toronto Public Health data, residents of South Parkdale are 10 points below the city average for fully vaccinated adults. A range of factors, like distance to clinics, language, and other barriers have played a part in this. That’s why I called on the Minister of Health for a targeted approach to get neighbourhoods like South Parkdale vaccinated.  Everyone should have the opportunity to get fully vaccinated before the end of the summer.

Additionally, with the move to Step 3, my Community Office has partially re-opened for select in-person services (commissioning, etc) by appointment only. For assistance, please contact my office by email at bkarpoche-co@ndp.on.ca or phone at 416-763-5630.

It is important we continue to follow public health guidelines as recommended.

As always, stay safe, wear a mask when needed, get vaccinated, and be kind.

Warmly,

Bhutila Karpoche,
MPP for Parkdale—High Park
