Many Hands Make Light Work!

Introducing a new resource for NYS CDFI Coalition Members

All Hands Zoom
Friday, July 16
12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m.
RSVP Today!

During the pandemic, the NYS CDFI Coalition board got into a cadence of meeting by Zoom once a week at lunchtime.

These Friday Noon Zooms gave CDFI executives from across the state the chance to compare notes, express frustration, and collaborate on some of the biggest challenges of their careers.

At least one of them has noted that membership in the CDFI Coalition was a lot cheaper than therapy!

We thought it would be a good idea to extend this opportunity to our members, and convene a meeting every other month, where we could share business updates; celebrate milestones and the people who made them possible; and give everyone a chance to ask questions.

What would YOU like to talk about? Funding and financing? Best practices? Legislative issues? Products or services for CDFIs? Special events or job postings like those below? Please take this short survey and let us know!

Members, please register using this link: bit.ly/cdfis-all-hands

Not sure if you're a member? Check your membership status here!

We'll hope to see you at noon on Friday - all hands on deck!

Virtual Peer Learning Event
With Lisa Mensah, Chief Executive Officer, OFN

CDFIs Serving People with Disabilities
Thursday, July 15
1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. ET
RSVP Today!

People with disabilities (PWD) are the largest minority group in the United States, comprising 13-20% of the U.S. population – around 50 million people. PWD, and especially those at the intersection of BIPOC and PWD, experience disproportionate financial vulnerability, which has been exacerbated by Covid-19.

A more just and equitable economy, inclusive of PWD, requires the money, strength, and voice of CDFIs.

NDFC Board members Charlie Hammerman and Carla Mannings will kick off this event with a conversation with Lisa Mensah of Opportunity Finance Network, followed by Q&A.

Register in advance for this meeting:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Thanks to Charlie Hammerman of the NYS CDFI Coalition Board for passing this along!

Under the supervision of the Director of Technology & Innovation, the Program Officer will lead the expansion and continuous improvement of Inclusiv’s financial empowerment programs and play an important role in building and managing strong relationships with Inclusiv’s strategic partners and funders.  Responsibilities will include measuring the impacts of our initiatives on credit unions and the communities they serve by collecting and analyzing relevant program data and drafting reports and grant proposals on our initiatives and their impacts.

Senior Program Officer, Center for Resiliency and Clean Energy

The Senior Program Officer will play work closely with the Director of the Center for Resiliency and Clean Energy to build and cultivate a network of community financial institutions (credit unions, community banks, and CDFI loan funds) committed and enabled to launch or expand green financing programs, with a focus on creating more accessible and affordable clean energy financing solutions in underserved communities.

The Inclusiv Center for Resiliency and Clean Energy has developed an intensive Solar Finance Training Program in partnership with the Center for Impact Finance at the Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire with seed funding from the Hewlett Foundation. The Center seeks to galvanize the capacity of credit unions to direct capital to solar and other clean energy solutions in communities across the country. In Case You Missed It!
NYS CDFI Investor Club - CDFI Friday, July 2

If you missed the presentation, you can watch the recording here. If you have not created an Impact Investing Institute account you will need to register before you can view the recording. With the code IFCMasterPass, you can apply a discount code to bypass the $9.95 fee and watch any of the recordings on the Impact Finance Center NYS CDFI Investor Club path for free.

We were delighted to present our second NYS CDFI Quarterly Investor Club event with our partner, Impact Finance Center, on Friday, July 2. This event differs from our monthly informational webinars in that we featured an investor panel, a CDFI panel, AND a series of quick pitches from NYS CDFIs.

This was a great opportunity for our members to highlight the work they're doing in front of an audience of prospective investors - those who watch in real time, as well as those who participate in Impact Finance Center's Impact Investing Institute. The non-profit Institute identifies, trains, and activates individuals and organizations to become impact investors, helping them better align their assets with their values. They are working to move more money to social ventures by creating the infrastructure for a Nationwide Impact Investing Marketplace by 2030 - and NYS CDFI Coalition members are on the list!

Your support of the NYS CDFI Coalition helps us explore new ways of attracting capital to our members, and we're excited about some early interest from investors. Save the date - or RSVP for the next event on Friday, August 6.

If you have questions, drop me a line!

Be well,

Colleen M. Ryan
