What's happening at West Valley Cycle Sales?

Ahhh…July

Thank all of you who braved the heat and made it to our annual picnic and barbecue. It was such fun seeing so many we have missed during the last year and welcoming so many newcomers to the event.  After all the work setting everything up, Jay really enjoyed the dunking!

Robyne has been recovering from a medical emergency and we pray for her speedy recovery and return to the front desk. Robyne and her faithful sidekick Beau are sorely missed.

We welcomed Michael in mid June to assist in recovering from a massive data loss in our accounting department. After the failure of all 3 backups, we need to reconstruct data for almost a year and a half from our hard copy files. A background in IT, financial reporting and BMW we found the perfect candidate to help John and Ellen come thru with a plan and execution. Michael will also assist in eventual website redesign, social media which is important to BMW, inventory control among other things.  Welcome Michael.

BMW is opening up in person Tech Training courses soon and Joseph will be headed back to complete his final required classes to earn his Master Tech Certificate. Training had been suspended due to Covid and remodeling of the Ontario Training facility.  He’s counting the days…

F900XR you say?

Have you heard about the BMW F900XR?

Our customer "SideStand” on YouTube took our F900XR for a video ride and refers to it as BMW’s best kept secret . Click the image below to watch!

This mid size bike along with the sister model the F900R were released at the start of the shutdown last year and have sat on the floor with very little attention. They came in to us without all the available options and at very reasonable prices.  Extra goodies such Cruise Control, Ride Modes Pro, etc are available if desired. Current incentives include $900 off MSRP and 0.09% Easy Ride Financing thru BMW Financial Services.

When are the 2022's coming?

Tentative release schedules for MY 2022’s show arrival in the 4th quarter 2021.  Current microchip supply issues, lack of shipping containers and drivers to transport crates to and from export and import destinations are throwing all “schedules” into the best guesstimate category.

85% of all tires come from Asia…let that sink in.

BMW R18 Cruiser

Who rides a cruiser and why?

BMW mastered market identification with the GS model 40 yers ago and now has a GS in every size from 310 to 1250.  When you climb on a GS it is climbing in the saddle of an agile steed, feet in the stirrups and ready for adventure.

Settling down into the seat of an R18 is like sitting in your favorite comfy chair, only the panoramic views from behind the handlebars of the R18 are like having your own giant movie screen, only better. Sit back and watch the world go by… no tippy toes for stability, just relax, grab the throttle and make life a ride.

Great deals abound on the R18’s and the long awaited aftermarket accessories are finally coming in…riders backrests, handlebar options, floorboards, exhaust options, etc.  Most are sourced here in the US and we all know how spotty manufacturing has begun to recover here at home. The Cruiser market is new for BMW and we are determined to make a dent in the HD, Indian, etc market.

Should you buy New or Used?

Used bikes are selling for much more than new.  Heard about this on the car side, but it is the same for bikes. CycleTrader shows a ’16 R1200RS with 30k miles for $15,917.  We have a ’18 NEW w/full 3yr/36k mile warranty for $16,500. Remember, new bike inventory sat on the floor while we were basically shutdown forever a year. A few gems like this are hidden away, call for details. In case you haven’t noticed, most bikes offered on Cycle Trader are new dealer inventory; very few private party ads anymore. Cycle Trader is owned by a major Dealership Management Service provider…follow the money!
