Rivercide tonight!

Hi everyone

A couple of quick notices …..

Rivercide
Wednesday 14th July - TONIGHT
Live Online at rivercide.tv

Environmentalist author and campaigner George Monbiot is about to launch the world's first live investigative journalism documentary - exposing the shocking pollution of rivers across the UK.

Rivercide will be streamed live at 7pm on Wednesday 14 July 2021 from a dedicated website - www.rivercide.tv - and will call on millions of viewers to take action to protect and repair our natural waterways.

The live doc will be directed by Franny Armstrong, the winner of the Grierson Award who broke new ground with the crowdsourcing for her climate film The Age of Stupid. It will also feature original live music from singer Charlotte Church and poet Owen Sheers.

Salmon & Trout Conservation petition
Some of you will be aware that the Chalk Aquifer Alliance hosted a talk from Salmon & Trout Conservation’s CEO Nick Measham last Wednesday that summarised their investigation into the Environment Agency and made a call for the Agency to be properly funded and given the independence to fulfil it’s role.

This will shortly be available in the CAA archive, but in the meantime here’s the link to the petition that asks that;

The Government must reverse years of cuts to Agency budgets, increase charges for polluters, and give the Agency freedom from overly business-friendly Government codes and guidance, so it can pursue and achieve its principal statutory objective to protect and enhance English rivers

Best wishes
