Dear Patron,
As always, a very warm welcome to new members of The LSP Society, whether you've migrated from Patreon or started supporting The Lifeboat Station Project for the first time.
I hope all's well in your world and that you're managing to survive in such bumpy times. Hopefully, the sun will be a tonic for those enjoying the heatwave in the UK this weekend.
Unfortunately, Covid-19 is now under our roof after managing to keep it at bay for so long. Our youngest son, Jude, became ill and tested positive for it on Tuesday, so I'm writing to you halfway through our period of self-isolation.
The pandemic still feels very real and it certainly seems to be rife here in Newcastle upon Tyne. As you can imagine (and as many of you will know), self-isolation is tricky in all kinds of ways when it comes to running a household and The Lifeboat Station Project. Thank goodness Jude seems to be getting a little better now and that Kath and I have managed to stay Covid-free so far too.
I've written to all those who have print and shop orders pending. Thankfully, everybody has been completely understanding.
In better news, I'm feeling a little jubilant as I finally finished the first draft of an article, which I've been invited to write for a rather splendid Dutch magazine. Self-isolation has proved to be the perfect time to finish it off and submit it to the editor — a satisfying way to head into the weekend last night. More on that in due course.
In travel news, I'm still liaising with the RNLI about the possibility of resuming my journey in September. There are many considerations on both sides. I'll let you know as soon as final decisions are made — it's so difficult to make any concrete plans at the moment, isn't it?
An excellent event has been confirmed, though: The Northern Eye Photography Festival in North Wales this October.
The speakers have been announced and I feel utterly privileged to be among them. Indeed, half of the speakers will (hopefully) be reading this because they're members of The LSP Society! Another excellent feel-good layer to proceedings.
Anyway, feel free to click on each of the portraits above to find out more information and click below to see the 1 minute blog post I've put together, which includes some fringe festival news too:
