Check In & Chat
Are you feeling alone?
Are you isolated due to Covid-19 and lonely?
Or are you worried about someone living on their own?
|
|
Research shows that about 1 in 5 Canadians experience some level of loneliness or isolation. One of the most common causes of loneliness is social isolation from living alone or having a small network of friends and family to communicate with. The most at-risk group is seniors.
Our Check in & Chat program has been up and running for several months. We have locally trained volunteers who make weekly or bi-weekly phone calls to our participants to help them stay connected to the community.
If you know someone who could benefit from our program, we would like to hear from you.
To register or for more information about participating in this program, please contact Geoff Van Geem at geoff.vangeem@segchc.ca or 226-379-8423.

World Humanitarian Day is commemorated every year on 19 August to pay tribute to humanitarian workers killed and injured in the course of their work, and to honour all aid and health workers who continue, despite the odds, to provide life-saving support and protection to people most in need.

This Mixed Berry Greek Frozen Yogurt is FULL of antioxidants, protein, and calcium. Perfect as an alternative to ice cream or a popsicle to switch things up, and we find that it’s best served in a bowl (a cone can get a bit messy!). It’s also best to serve right away, but if you’re going to freeze it, make sure that you take it out a good 20 minutes before serving to allow it to thaw a little.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 heaping cups frozen mixed berries
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 cup vanilla-flavoured Greek or Skyr yogurt
- ⅓ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
- Blend in a high speed blender until smooth and serve!
