GO prepared is a monthly newsletter designed to motivate and equip aspiring missionaries to keep moving forward on their journey into full-time, cross-cultural ministry. We’ll connect you with the best mission resources available and help you navigate potential pitfalls that could derail your path to the nations. We not only want to see you go, we want to see that you GO well prepared.

Good questions are the fuel to a great conversation.

Have you ever wondered what to talk about with a missionary that visits your church or that comes for a meal at your home? You may have thought, “I don’t really have much in common with these missionaries.” Or perhaps you think that missionaries get tired of answering questions.

The truth is that most missionaries are excited to talk about the people and country they love. For those pursuing full-time cross-cultural ministry missionaries possess a wealth of knowledge and experience to glean from for your own journey.

For the Sake of World

This passion in my heart
This stirring in my soul
To see the nations bow
For all the world to know
I'm living for Your glory on the earth

For the sake of the world burn like a fire in me

Light a flame in my soul for every eye to see
For the sake of the world burn like a fire in me

Greatest Needs: Pakistan

With a total of 512 people groups and 504 of those being unreached people groups, Pakistan is second on the list of nations with the greatest number of unreached people groups. Of the total population of Pakistan, 98% falls into the category of unreached.

Over 95% Muslim, with a Sunni majority, Pakistan is the third largest Islamic nation - and the center of the unevangelized world. Despite constitutional guarantees of religious freedom, this is one of the world’s most persecuted nations.

Bible translation remains very difficult, only a few of the 70 languages have a completed New Testament. With much of the country controlled by Islamic fanaticism, believers face extreme persecution and are often among the poorest. Yet, in the face of conflict and despair, prayer movements are rising up, and Muslims are increasingly coming to Christ!
  1. Pray for the spiritually oppressed in remote areas to encounter the Gospel.
  2. Pray for the Church to multiply in the power of the Spirit as persecution intensifies.
  3. Pray for the strongholds of Islamist extremism and terrorism to be demolished and rendered powerless.

Maybe you’ve already taken those long walks with God and have confirmed in your heart that He is directing you to share Jesus in another culture.  Maybe there’s even a specific place you know God wants you to go or a specific task He’s directed your toward.  Maybe you’ve already talked with your family and they are on board.  Perhaps your good friends have already heard your story a million times and they are excited.

But what’s next?  To be sent out, SOMEONE has to send you.  So, you’re thinking you should get your church involved somehow
but how on earth do you do that?  If you’re in this somewhat cynical culture of North America, how do you communicate the urgency and the merit of your particular call?

Find some people who are willing to commit to PRAY for you.

There are several ways you can do this.  You could talk to your small group at church and ask that they pray for growth in your relationship with God in general and for your call to missions in particular.  You could develop a texting group where you each share daily requests and updates via text. Talk to your pastor.  Maybe ask for an hour of prayer one specific night. Your church family could all gather to pray OR pray where they are in that one specific hour.

Finding praying people serves two very important purposes.  People hear about and invest in the call God has given you AND you are lifted up to God in PRAYER.  ‘The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.’ (You may have read that statement somewhere before
James 5:16) Imagine the power and effectiveness in your life because of all of these praying people!
