What are we looking at this month?
Each year, HIAA awards undergraduate concentrators funding for independent research. This year's Flexible Flyer award winner is Elisheva Goldberg, a rising senior double-concentrating in the History of Art and Architecture and Judaic Studies. Elisheva's summer project is to research Jewish rituals while creating sculptural and functional Judaica to be used at Jewish holidays and for ritual gatherings, conversations, and memory-making, all essential to Jewish continuity. She says the project "will generate a physical connection between my two concentrations at Brown, and greatly benefit my understanding of the stakes involved in art and tradition." Elisheva has been practicing ceramics for 8 years, working in several pottery studios as a teacher, technician, manager, and artist-in-residence.
