Steve’s Blog – Update on Sunday Services

In case you missed Steve’s important update yesterday...

Following the Government’s announcement on Monday about the latest Covid guidelines and restrictions, I am really looking forward to things opening up a bit more. I’m particularly delighted that singing will once again be permitted in churches after 19th July!

Here is a video update from me explaining what will be happening on Sundays at King’s from 25th July. You will also find a written summary of the key points below.

We believe it is important that we gather together as the people of God, but we want to do this in a measured and safe way, especially as not everyone has been vaccinated yet and Covid cases are rising.

Here are some of the revised guidelines we will be following in our services from Sunday 25th July and throughout August. We will review these at the end of August:
  • We will continue with two meetings at each of our Catford, Downham and Lee venues. Each site will offer some level of kids’ provision depending on volunteers, space, etc.
  • You will still need to pre-book for all our Sunday services and register on arrival. We will limit our auditorium capacity to 50% at each venue and will still have some spacing between chairs. Services will be just over an hour in length.
  • We will ask you to continue to wear face masks. We are going to encourage singing in worship, but with masks on. While seated during the notices and sermon, you can take your mask off.

I have really missed singing at our in-person services and look forward to doing that together again from 25th July.

On a different note, I want to take this chance to say thank you again to all of you at King’s for continuing to be such a generous church. We want to model the stewardship of our resources in an open and transparent manner, and we will report in more detail to the church about our finances at our Vision Night. I have decided to postpone the Vision Night until the Autumn, which will hopefully enable more people to attend.

Next Sunday we begin our summer series, God of All Things, based on Andrew Wilson's latest book. Find out more about the book and how to order a copy.

Money Matters – Giving Update

At King’s we teach the Biblical principle of personal stewardship of our finances, and as a church we want to model the stewardship of our resources in an open and transparent manner. The table below shows our giving through to the end of May 2021 based on a reduced income budget of £2 million for this church year.

King’s is a remarkably generous church and as you can see, this generosity has continued throughout the pandemic. Should the current giving trend continue, then we are on track to reach our budget for the year. Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support through this season.

Covid-19, however, has had an impact on our finances and therefore we have reduced our expenditure accordingly to ensure it is kept in line with our income.

As mentioned in Steve’s update above, we will be reporting in more detail in the Autumn term how our finances have been used over this last church year, and looking at our finances going forward.

Each week we are sharing ‘Kingdom Stories’ from across the church. Last week we heard from Kelvin on Kingdom work in Zimbabwe. Here's the longer interview.

Calling all young people! We are excited that from Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th July Newday Online is returning! Join us for three special evening episodes of Newday TV each evening. We will worship together, hear fantastic teaching and have a lot of fun too.

We will host the evenings at our Downham Site from 7-9.30pm. It is completely free to attend but there will be things to buy from the tuck shop. In order to come along you do still need to book online and you can do that using the link below.

If you have any questions then please get in touch with Zoe.
