He took on the role as manager of science affairs and knowledge mobilization in 2015 at the Ontario Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The following year, he became a scientific manager for U of T’s Medicine by Design Program, where he was instrumental in launching the initiative. In 2018, Zahedi moved to UBC to help launch the School of Biomedical Engineering. Zahedi's leadership abilities, along with experiences in research administration and partnership forming, will allow the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research to continue to provide outstanding support to the UTM research community.

Meanwhile, Luke Barber, winner of U of T’s 2021 Chancellor’s Award for Emerging Leadership, will assume an interim position as executive director of a new joint portfolio: Facilities Management & Planning and Information & Instructional Technology Services. Building on his success as director of I&ITS for the past three years, Barber will synthesize the campus’s technological and infrastructural plans, implementing a strategy of support that bridges complementary areas of knowledge. Anthony Betts has accepted an interim role as interim director of I&ITS. Drawing on his deep experience at UTM as senior manager, client services, Betts will continue to adopt a community-first approach to superb technological support and effective team leadership.
