On behalf of the DLRE Hiring Committee, please join me in offering a warm welcome to Starr Austin to the GUUF Community as Interim Director of Lifespan Religious Education.
Starr Austin is a credentialed religious educator with the UUA, has worked in family ministry for 10+ years, and is a certified instructor for Our Whole Lives. She has extensive experience in the field and a broad range of skills in program management, volunteer support, and curriculum development. Her understanding of Unitarian Universalist polity and practice is broad and deep and she is a leader among her colleagues. She is reliable, creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented. Starr holds a BA in Family Ministry from Empire State University, SUNY. In her free time, Starr enjoys writing poetry and nonfiction, hiking with her family, exploring the outdoors, and attending spoken word events.
Starr lives in Tucson, AZ and we have created a hybrid position in which she will work remotely, making periodic site visits to the GUUF campus. As we continue our phased re-opening and learn to live with the novel coronavirus, we are presented with an exciting opportunity to live into the multi-platform future, and I am excited to begin a terrific year of innovation and collaboration.
