The vendor application for our Winter Market is now open! Apply to sell your locally grown and made farm and food products by August 16 for the winter season starting in November.
For the 2021-2022 season, we are offering reduced rent to offset the cost of market expenses to historically underrepresented growers and producers vending at our Winter Market. The value of this credit will be $200 for full-time vendors and will be prorated at a daily rate for vendors participating for a partial season. This credit is open to all vendors who state a need for reduced rent but is designed to address economic hardship disproportionately experienced by members of communities historically excluded from opportunities for economic independence. If your business identifies as owned by individuals in this category, please fill out the vendor application. Once our Markets team has replied to your application, let them know your business name and the market for which you were selected, and they will confirm your adjusted rate. markets@farmfreshri.org

The University of Rhode Island Cooperative Extension is launching a new effort designed to simultaneously address the issues of food waste and food insecurity. The new program, Food Recovery for Rhode Island, aims to rescue and recycle food by changing the way Rhode Islanders shop, store, prepare, preserve, and compost.
The program seeks individuals to enroll in a six-week course on food recovery and then complete a 40-hour volunteer internship with a community organization. The course will be held online with complimentary field experiences on farms and in kitchens across Rhode Island. Through the internship, volunteers will divert wasted food from the landfill and donate healthy food to local families.
Get involved! The deadline to apply is August 1. Cost for the course and training materials is $200, and financial awards are available.

We are proud to be honored by Grow Smart Rhode Island as an Outstanding Smart Growth Project for our new headquarters, farmers market space, and hub for local food in Providence. Check out this wonderful short video they made about us.

By incorporating numerous smart growth principles, Farm Fresh RI has breathed new life into a 3+ acre former Brownfields site that was once an industrial and manufacturing stronghold in Providence. By re-purposing the site, their efforts have transformed a decaying urban eyesore into a catalyst for the revitalization of the Woonasquatucket River corridor. Affordable access to fresh and nutritious, locally grown produce is enhanced by Farm Fresh programs that double the buying power of SNAP recipients at farmer’s markets. This project strengthens our region’s food system and helps to ensure the health and long-term sustainability of area farms.
