If you applied and were approved for the 2021 Summer Bridge Fund program, you should be receiving your payout funds this week. 

We are aware that LAUSD has notified members that the state is only matching $.66 for each dollar contributed. If you have received this notification from LAUSD or any other employer, IT IS NOT CORRECT!

The 66-cent match was calculated before Governor Gavin Newsom signed the state budget into law. Governor Newsom approved more funds for the summer bridge program in the new budget and the CA Department of Education, which administers the summer fund money, notified our union that the match would be restored. 

We also understand that members who applied this year to participate in the 2022 Summer Bridge Program have been receiving confirmation notices from LAUSD stating that the match for next year will be $.80 on the dollar. THIS IS ALSO INCORRECT.

Last week, Governor Newsom approved a new budget that increases funding for  the Summer Bridge program and the match will go up.

Please note that SEIU Local 99 is reaching out to the Dept. of Education and school districts to ensure that members are paid fully for the Summer Bridge program money they are owed. Stay tuned for more updates. 

The Summer Bridge Fund program was won after SEIU Local 99 members took action and fought to win a safety net for classified school workers. Through this program, eligible classified school employees can save money during the school year and receive up to a dollar-for-dollar matching contribution from the state during the summer when school work is not available.

 

Si solicitó y fue aprobado para el programa del Fondo Puente de Verano 2021, debería recibir sus fondos de pago esta semana.

Sabemos que el LAUSD ha notificado a los miembros que el estado sólo igualará $.66 por cada dólar contribuido. Si ha recibido esta notificación del LAUSD o de cualquier otro empleador, ¡NO ES CORRECTA!

La cantidad de 66 centavos se calculó antes de que el gobernador Gavin Newsom firmara el presupuesto estatal. El gobernador Newsom aprobó más fondos para el programa en el nuevo presupuesto y el Departamento de Educación de California, que administra el dinero del fondo, le  notificó a nuestra unión que se restablecieron los fondos correspondientes.

También entendemos que los miembros que este año solicitaron para participar en el Programa Puente de Verano 2022 han estado recibiendo avisos de confirmación del LAUSD que indican que la contribución para el próximo año será de $.80 por dólar. ESTO TAMBIÉN ES INCORRECTO.

La semana pasada, el gobernador Newsom aprobó un nuevo presupuesto que aumenta los fondos para el programa  y la contribución aumentará.

SEIU Local 99 se está comunicando con el Departamento de Educación y los distritos escolares para garantizar que los miembros reciban el pago completo del dinero que se les debe bajo el programa Puente de Verano. Estén atentos a mas actualizaciones.

El programa Puente de Verano se ganó después de que los miembros de SEIU Local 99 tomaron acción y lucharon para ganar una red de seguridad para los trabajadores escolares clasificados. A través de este programa, los empleados escolares elegibles pueden ahorrar dinero durante el año escolar y recibir una contribución equivalente dólar por dólar del estado durante el verano cuando el trabajo escolar no está disponible.
