Hello to our dear Pathways for Carers community.

As Victoria finds itself plunged into snap lockdown 5.0, we want you to know that we are more committed than ever to supporting carer well being. Despite being forced to cancel the highly anticipated Wonthaggi and Rhyll walks next week due to restrictions, we look forward to resuming our Pathways calendar as soon as possible.

This month saw the launch of the first South Yarra Pathways for Carers group at Fawkner Park with the wonderful assistance of Sean from City of Melbourne. An intimate and inspiring group that we look forward to connecting with into the future.

Another successful Pathways for Carers group launched in Sale this month and Andrea had the pleasure of attending this important event. Facilitated by Elaine from Latrobe Community Health, this amazing group met at Sale Botanical Gardens and were joined by Helen and Heather from Friends of the Sale Botanic Gardens group who demonstrated the significance of local flora and fauna. A wonderful time was shared by all.

Our Boroondara Pathways for Carers group was scheduled to launch in Hawthorn this month but due to COVID and weather conditions, no carers were able to attend. We look forward to engaging with more carers in the local area during the coming months.

If you or someone you know is a carer in these local government areas then please visit our website for more details on meeting locations, dates and times:

Alternatively, if there is no group in your local area and you would like to launch one then please contact us here https://www.pathwaysforcarers.com.au/contact-us/

Would you like to adopt a role that increases your confidence, capacity and skill set? Our Pathways for Carers free walking events are led by carers for carers. It’s what makes our program unique.

We are seeking expressions of interest from carers willing to facilitate these events on a voluntary basis in their local council electorate https://www.pathwaysforcarers.com.au/become-a-lead-carer/

Our wonderful Murrindindi lead carer Anthea Forbes talks about what being a lead carer means to her and the local community https://www.pathwaysforcarers.com.au/lead-carer-anthea-forbes-alexandra/
