Giinagay...

Welcome back to school!
It was both a delight and an inspiration to be back at school on Tuesday. Teachers and staff have worked hard preparing their Main Lessons and projects for the term ahead and students came back motivated and excited to be back at Chrysalis with their fellow classmates.

In Term 3 we will continue our Berry Street Program work with our focus for this term being on the Character Domain. The Character Domain has been created to enable students to be able to articulate their signature strengths both now and in the future. A 'strengths' based philosophy describes an approach that focuses on what is right with an individual or group (Quinlan, 2013). Through our work at Chrysalis and in Steiner education we have found that nurturing student strengths by embracing the 'whole child', is of primary importance to enabling a student to 'truly thrive' in all areas of the Chrysalis journey. We look forward to putting this work into practice in each of the curriculum areas this term through our constant striving to improve our practice and support our students in every way that you can.
May we all go well together!
Blessings on Term 3.

Class 8 Wilderness Walk...
With excitement and (a small amount of) apprehension, Class 8 had the opportunity to embark on their 9 day Wilderness Walk.
The students will hike from Point Lookout all the way down to the Bellinger River Headland, concluding their journey back at the Thora campus. Over the course of the hike they will spend time exploring the New England National Park, spend a night sleeping solo under the stars, and have the opportunity to canoe on the Bellinger River.
At Chrysalis we have such a strong, full camp program. By Class 8, the students have formed life long bonds with their classmates and built up a resilience that is only strengthened twofold by the journey they make on this hike that is often referred to as a rite of passage at the culmination of their time at Chrysalis.

High School Information Evening...
In the coming weeks, you will have the opportunity to join us for an information evening about the High School years - Class 7 & 8 - at Chrysalis. The meeting will also include information regarding the intention for Class 9 in 2022, and look forward into Class 10 for 2023.
These are exciting times with the extension of the High School program at Chrysalis and we hope you will 'Save the Date' and join us!
More information to follow...
