SHARE OUR JOY IN THESE GREAT GIFTS
FROM THE PEOPLE OF NDORO Wa YESU!
Ndoro is one of the places we visited several times during the Mozambique civil war. (late 80’s early 90’s). We’d land our plane in the bush and hide it under leafy branches. Previously we had flown our motor cycle in on one of our 800 flights, having to dismantle it first to be able to fit it in the plane. We kept it for years in a safe place. On landing, we’d fill it with fuel which we’d brought in the plane, there being no place within several hundred miles of bush paths to buy anything at all. Carriers placed our cargo, bags of clothes, food and bibles on their heads and walked the whole day or several days to a selected village. Most times we walked with them, other times we’d jump on our motor bike and ride through the bush, visiting many places. Unforgettable times.
Now easy to reach, Ndoro is just one and a half hour’s drive from Inhaminga. Our building team has constructed a solid church to replace the mud and thatch of days gone by. On Sunday we took a group of bible school students to the meeting and afterwards we were surprised with the biggest offering ever! It was very humbling, these people are poor and do not eat meat very often; yet with much joy they presented us with 10 chickens, 2 ducks, four pigeons, a bag of maize and two goats! This is huge. We were overwhelmed.
MEMORIES! The people have not forgotten the gifts we brought many years ago. The long bush marches carrying clothes for the naked and ragged, and food for the hungry... and to the poor the gospel was preached.
Ndoro Wa Yesu Church Today:Ndoro is on the main road that stretches from Maputo all the way through Cabo DelGado. You can see our church from the road, on the left, about 50 kilometres south of the Zambezi river.
Pastor Elias was a small child during those days. He has been through bible school and pastoral training and is much loved by the people and has planted several churches within the vicinity.
In those days of long ago, nobody had shoes to leave outside.
True worshippers!
Pastor Mariano and Rod call the children forward for special prayer and blessing.
One of our students teach the children in a hut beside the church.
Celebrating in the dance.
Now they give back to us… Gifts from the Heart! With much joy we were presented with 10 chickens, 2 ducks, four pigeons, a bag of maize and two goats!
The people were so excited to give these two goats to us, so valuable to them… what a sacrifice of joy!
Young women cooking our lunch... Written on the mud wall is, “I love God and God loves me.” And Psalm 125 “They that trust in the Lord shall be like mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever. ”
This precious woman opens her hand and heart to receive prayer for healing.
THE GREATEST GIFT EVER “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will never die, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Thank you all friends, for sharing in our lives!
Rod & Ellie.
