Hi everyone! 😃 It's time for another Dennes Engineering Newsletter!

As you probably heard, we have recently had some Covid cases in our workshop. Since then all affected staff have recovered fully, so everyone is in good health and back at work, ready to assist you.

Thanks to everyone for being patient and understanding during this time, we really appreciate it. When visiting us, please make sure to wear your mask and follow the safety procedures. Let's fight this virus together!

Vacuum Sealing Press
Recently we finished off an interesting project where we manufactured a purpose-built vacuum sealing press! Not only does this machine compress and remove all excess air that is not necessary for shipment, but it also uses a dual pneumatic heat-sealing bar to make sure that the air stays out once compressed.

Machine building is a very tricky process, and we were very lucky with this project that we had an old working sample machine to use as a reference. It took all the capabilities of our workshop to make this unit and we are very happy with how it turned out! 😊
Do you have soft, fluffy or aerated products that need compression before packaging and shipping? Then check out this video on our newly built vacuum sealing press! Maybe we can help you too! 😉

We deal with lots of quotes daily in all different shapes and forms. We thought it would be a good idea to mention some tips that we have learnt to help quote faster and more accurately for our customers. Quoting can be a very time-intensive process for a manufacturer and can consist of many different steps. The variables of materials and processes needed to make a certain part make it very difficult to know exactly what your customer wants. So, the first tip is to:
1. TALK TO US RATHER SOONER THAN LATER
Often our customers have spent a lot of time on their project before they decide to contact us. An initial call/meeting really helps bring us up to speed with what you are looking to accomplish. Before you spend hours designing and building something that might be very difficult to manufacture rather give us a call. This can save a lot of time during quoting and manufacturing. We might have an easier way to accomplish something rather than the method you had planned to use. Or we can help you design according to the machinery available making it easy to manufacture.
2. ALL INFORMATION IS GOOD INFORMATION
Once you know what is possible from your supplier it's time to make up a drawing, hand sketch, model or even bring in a sample to work from. If possible, it is always better to try and supply a dimensioned PDF when quoting as this will have all the information required for an accurate quotation. If this is not possible then make sure you write a detailed email with all the information you can think of. Some basics to always include are, scale, materials, QTY, tolerance, finish. Try and avoid asking for many different variations in quantity and rather try to stick to the amount you are planning to order.

We receive a lot of solid models to quote on and they are quite hard to work with. They have very little information on them and usually, the first thing we must do is create a dimensioned PDF and send a few emails back and forth before we can begin to quote.
WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
By no means do you have to do the above, we are always here to help, but it can speed up the process and make sure everyone is on the same page. Please feel free to pop us a message with any other questions you might have! Hopefully, if you follow the above you will be well on your way to receiving an accurate quote from us or any other suppliers.
