I get a lot of questions from people asking me about which tools are needed to build a guitar. This can be divided into a few categories. 

  • Hand tools
  • Power tools
  • Specialty tools like jigs, templates, fretting tools etc.  
In this SHOP TALK  I will be discussing hand tools and showing the essential ones that every luthier needs and what I use the most in my shop when building my instruments. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how few hand tools I actually use.
