In the next few weeks, we will be going through some coding tutorials which will include Programming for Surveyors and GIS Programming. We will be using Python language for this.
A good understanding of the language will help you but we will do our best to cover all the basics that you need in order to become a developer or Programmer. By the way Developer and programmer are two different things but people are used to mixing them up.
If you would like to be part of this programming series, here is a small list of things and items that you can download and keep on your computer in order to get started and prepare for what’s coming your way.
A code editor - we recommend Visual Studio Code and PyCharm.
Visual Studio Code is free and Open-Source but with PyCharm the Professional version is not free so consider getting the community version instead.
Git - We are going to learn about version control and also collaborating in an Open-Source environment. Git is a version control system which helps us manage the versions of our code. You can download git too
Create a GitHub Account - We will be sharing code samples through GitHub to help you along the way, GitHub is a source-code hosting platform that helps us collaborate too. To create an account just register on their page.
